I *loved* Married with Children. The first season was good, but all the seaons after that were freaking funny as hell. I still watch MwC clips on youtube today for a fast laugh.
I read once the director, or casting director maybe, didn't like how Ed O'Neill looked and only let him audition because he had to. O'Neill heard about this just before he went on stage, so decided to play the part of Al Bundy as someone who just didn't give a fuck about anything. The "doesn't give a fuck" attitude of the character wasn't written in - it came from O'Neill himself. He so impressed the director that he won the part on the spot.
