Why not?

South Africa has been growing rapidly, places like Cape Town or Durban have large communities of wealthy people. It ranks 25th in the world in terms of GDP but only because many have nothing, if you only took the population that has access to the internet they would rank much higher.

Also more and more European expats buying property there...

What makes you say that? is it because it is in Africa?

Maybe a trip to Cape Town would change your mind, or some Durban suburbs where you could swear you are in Florida.

South Africa has good infrastructure, good enough to host the 2010 Wold Cup next June, there is not a doubt in my mind the buyer can recoup his money very quickly.

BTW sedo stats say 24 171 visitors in the past 31 day, even if they aren't 100% accurate they won't be that far off.

I thought it was fair, when i got home in the middle of dinner I had a chance to bid...but was hoping it would be passsed over...I then would have emailed Rick and made an offer for 3k, the guy maybe would have said 4k, I would have said 3.5K right now. Deal done.

I still think anything besides a .com has more risk in losing value.

I also think making $700 on a parked domain is great, but for a .co.za no way would I even consider paying the price it reached.
