I think there aren't really any decent alternatives at the moment. I'm working with a client who is building something like this now, but it's not quite ready for mainstream. There is *a lot* that goes into something like OF.

20% is standard and pretty fair as if you host own website you have similar cost ratio with hosting and payments processing. There seem to be hundreds of alternatives atm everyone trying to get a piece from the OF cake. Anyway most will not survive and the market will consolidate, so better look for one which will be still here in 20 years.
