Im trying to ugprade to windows 7 ultimate from windows vista ultimate, when I run install it says windows could not retrive information about your disks, any ideas?

- Right click on computer under the start menu and chose manage
- In the computer management window click on services and scroll down to the service labeled "Virtual Disk" right click on it and chose properties.
- Under "Services status" click start then click apply and ok
- close all the windows and retry the upgrade
Agree, I did a clean install with a brand new hard drive and ran into no problems. I'm sure the Microsoft tech help is flooded with calls right about now.
If Windows 7 works the same way as Vista, you can use the upgrade disc to install the full version of Windows. It's an exploit that many people took advantage of, me included.
Perform at your own peril. It may not work for 7. Here's a link explaining how it was done with Vista.
