The US is going into the shitter guys. Canada was already there.

There's been more freedom curtaling legislation passed and proposed in the last few years then ever before. The "homeland security" act makes me cringe, and the Patriot Act is a horrendous piece of crap.

The problem with legislation like this is that it will stick around. People may say it's bad (and believe me, it's VERY bad) - but it either has to go to the Supreme Court to be struct down as unconstitutional, or Congress has to repeal/amend it itself.. Either way it's around for a good 5-10 years if not longer.

Sure makes me not want to move to the US. Thailand sounds nice. ;>

While I understand what you are saying. I don't like this pending act at all. And to put Poindexter in charge is "almost" criminal.

The fact is clear, they have, and always had the power to stop this but never did. If we inforced our laws, and follow ALL leads this would have never happened.

They better fillabuster this and make a lot of nose, if this goes through with the Patriot Act already in use it is not good. This is permenant, the Patriot Act at least has a sunset clause.

There is one good thing that will come out of the evangelical xtian takeover of this country.

They now have nobody to blame if everything goes to shit. If at the end of these 2 years, the country is still fucked up, they cannot point and blame the Democrats or anyone else. They run the show now, and they will shoulder the blame of any fuckups.

And I hope they seal up the borders and kick out all the illegal beaners in the southwest. Affirmative action can kiss its ass goodbye under this administration, and thats a good thing.

When some fanatical sand ****** kills a member of your family or a paedophile rapes and murders your kid you will be glad this huge database exists.

I know all this information storage can lead to selective screening and the like but its proving to be one of the most powerful weapons in the fight against terrorism and organised crime.

You can fake any identity card or document but its very difficult to fake the historical records generated by a normal persons everyday life.
