    Tech GFY Considering Blocking US States!

    Starting next week GFY is considering blocking the US states where the age verification applies.

    "Kansas moves to join Texas and other states in requiring porn sites to verify people’s ages"

    At least eight states have enacted age-verification laws since 2022 — Texas, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Utah and Virginia, and lawmakers have introduced proposals in more than 20 other states, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures and an analysis from The Associated Press of data from the Plural bill-tracking service.

    Cause there is some porn on GFY, and it is an 18+ social community GFY might get in trouble. Maybe there are alternatives like uploading your ID to verify your age? Or should block people for posting porn?

    I think this is idiocracy!

      I don't mind uploading my ID... I already had to do this with perhaps 100 affiliate programs, paxum, paypal, etc for KYC already.

      Sadly... in certain states with this law in effect you can legally drink on your parents property at lower than 18! And in much of Europe you can drink at ages lower than 21 and even lower than 18. But you cannot look at naked people? Um... okay! How many of us didn't find a way to steal or "borrow" some porn when we were 13 to 17?

      I have a feeling that every one of those state legislatures are filled with men who have had sex with other men and just hate themselves for it every damn Sunday.

          Honestly there is some porn on Facebook and Twitter as well. So I'm curious how GFY can be held responsible for user content?

                  Since this is a pinned post I will put this here:

                  Can all program owners do me a favor:

                  Go to your dev's if your affiliate system doesn't support this.
                  Have them select all, count(money_spent) from users where country = USA group by state.

                  Then post your results. How many people in Florida and Texas are buying porn?

                  We would then take the populations of each state and find out per person, per state: how much is spent on porn. Do people in these other states really not want to see porn?

                  And if your program is LGBTQ+? Even better for my point.
                  Would like to see these kinds of stats from Kink.com as well.

                                                                                              Forgot to say, you can "anonymize" your stats be just doing a "percentage of" instead of gross/net totals of money.

                                                                                                                      Now US states have brought in age verification, and even the likes of Pornhub are simply blocking those states because it's too much trouble to implement geo age verification?

                                                                                                                                  It's not that it's difficult - it's that it's probably not worth it financially. There are tons of AI powered id verification services but all of them cost money. How much is Pornhub willing to spend per freeloading users when they have to pay for each document verification + potentially have the liability of storing it?
