I agree it is very traumatic and hits hard.
Perhaps if you take out the rest of the story it may be hot. Watching start to finish and that is just another kick in the nuts.

Though it does show she will take it far for a movie.

And yes it's most likely a body double, a director would go out of their way to get her face and body in the same scene if he managed to convince her. However they went out of their way to not get both into the same scene.

Im sure she did the scene topless or whatever. However the penetration shots, nope sorry.

I saw that movie with all the mature scenes in it over at a friend's house. It made a huge impact on me (Don't ever do Heroin, mkay?) and later I was talking about it with someone who'd never seen it. We went out to Blockbuster right away and picked it up, for sale in their used bins.
Unfortunately, the version I bought ended up being terribly, heavily censored. It doesn't have the same awful impact in the censored version, so be careful which version you get if you're going to view this movie. It is meant to be awful and un-edited and raw.

It's still a hard movie to watch for me, no matter what.

I thought it was crazy hot personally. Great film as well........ although slightly over hyped. I lived in Brighton Beach at the time (right where the movie takes place) so it packed an extra punch when I saw it.

Nevertheless seeing Jennifer Connelly go as to ass with another girl at that party so she could get some heroin is one of the hottest movie scenes I have ever seen. Reaffirmed my faith in life it was so fucking beautiful.
