Usable TGP scripts in 2024?

    Business Usable TGP scripts in 2024?

    I have some old projects that I want to keep alive. I know TGPs have not been making much money for years, but what are some usable solutions in 2024?

    I know one of them is Mechbunny TGP, but that script is working only on PHP 5.6. And PHP 5.6 is 5+ years EOL now!

    An included theme is a must, since I have no plans on creating a custom one.

    Wordpress themes/plugins is an option as well.

      It might help if you listed the features you need.

      If you just need a tool to mass import FHGs and display them as a grid on your frontpage, then cyberseo or wp-import will do the job alongside a wordpress theme that displays featured thumbs however you like.

      If you need thumb rotators, a trade script, etc, thats a different game entirely.

      KVS would probably be your best all-around, out-of-the-box solution.

                      I don't know how useful TGP's are as a money maker these days, but technically the plugin has no problem generating image galleries from sponsored RSS feeds, XML feeds (e.g. NATS), CSV files and raw text dumps. It will download all full size images to your host (hotlinking is no supported), crop thumbnails and generate WordPress galleries from them.

                                                          I am thinking about setting up a PHP 5.6 system to get it going again. My biggest sites ever were Mechbunny TGPs. The script is an indexing and traffic magnet. The templates were great, so everything was turnkey.

                                                          It may be possible to use the tube script to do the same thing, but the work needed to adapt it to photos is prohibitive and slow to scale. It's a real shame that the TGP script couldn't be updated to a newer PHP version.

                                                          There are image sites that do huge traffic, and I always found that image viewers were buyers.

                                                                  PHP 5.6 version is not a problem. It is possible to install multiple versions on one server. Each domain can have its own version or even each subdomain.

                                                                                                                          I was messaged this thread and figured i'd reply here.

                                                                                                                          The reason there's no tgp scripts still in development in 2024 is that there is because it is not economically viable for any script vender to make and maintain one. There wasn't even a market when I made it in 2015/2016, and I can only imagine it's even worse now.

                                                                                                                          Despite it at the time being the only "modern" TGP script with effectively no competition in that market at all we probably sold 15-20 copies, at $200 each meaning that all that dev work yielded some $3-4k on a project that took probably 700-800 hours to make when you factor in all those templates we made for it that came with it (which we had to design, cut to html/css and implement into the software). Besides the initial dev work, there is support and updates after the fact. It sold so badly that we completely stopped selling it just so there'd be one less product to provide support for down the line and to let it die a natural death. There's maybe 1 or 2 of you still running it because we get a ticket maybe once every 2 years about it.

                                                                                                                          TGPs are an extremely niche market within the already small adult market. Adult in itself is barely worth it for PHP scripts, and there is little use for a TGP script outside of adult. There's only a small handful of you guys that are still running TGP sites with even less that are looking to start up new TGP sites. Those that are already running sites won't want to change scripts on existing sites because their current systems are already functioning and generating income.

                                                                                                                              It's not PHP itself that gets hacked, it's scripts via sql injection, remote code execution etc. A PHP script with security holes under PHP 8.3 is worse then a site with no holes running 5.6. The security issues related to PHP itself are pretty limited to locally executable things and not things that can be exploited remotely by a bad actor. To exploit most security issues on PHP, you'd have to have access to the server, and if you already have access to the server then you don't need to hack it. Yes - running PHP 5.6 is not ideal but it in itself is not inherently that big of a problem from the security point of view.

                                                                                                                              A plausible scenario where 5.6 would be a problem would be for instance a script having a security hole that is patched in a later version of the script and that later version requiring a higher PHP version - but this doesn't apply to "dead" scripts that are no longer being updated.

                                                                                                                              Wordpress and various plugins people use for it get hacked left and right despite working on PHP 8.3 or even requiring PHP 8. This is not because of PHP itself, not wordpress itself - but questioniable plugins for it.

Scheduling and creating quality galleries is pretty easy. Check out one of Fris's themes.

                                                                                                                                      I find that image sites generate a ton of traffic and those who look at images are more likely to be buyers.

                                                                                                                                                  People get hacked when they download all these nulled plugins and themes from warez sites thinking that they are being distributed by robin hoods to help poor people. Idiots... Once a plugin or theme is activated, it gets control over everything. These plugins and themes literally own their asses. There must be insane trust in the developer whose scripts they upload to the servers.

                                                                                                                                                                                              yes, i found also bounce rate is much lower as well with image sites, video and image traffic sent from the same source bounce rate was 30-35% for image based wp sites. and on site time around 3-4mins vs video with 65-70% bounce rate, with 1min or less on site time.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  This seems like a natural outcome for using images vs videos. A bounce is when someone accesses site but doesn't click any internal link. If they come into a site on a tube video page they can view the video and then leave. If they come into a site on a gallery they'll usually click one of the images to zoom.
