I read the whole thread. The point is some of us still think we're in high school, so that when someone is in a good mood and wants to publicly remark about how great life is treating them, we want to tear them down to show them, "I'm better than you. You have nothing I don't have".
Once our maturity level begins to equal the digits that indicate our age, we realize we don't need to succumb to the primal urges of "one-upping" other males.
We no longer need to use the schoolboy tactics of tearing others down to make ourselves look better, because we realize that it only makes us look foolish.
We no longer need to compete on every level with every other male member of our species.
We really don't need to prove we're better than anyone.... we don't need to prove ANYTHING, actually. We can simply be happy for others, and maybe even use their stories to reminisce about the good times we had at their age.
I read grogan's post. He was putting a good face on getting needlessly insulted. The guy is simply enjoying his version of a "pimp daddy" lifestyle. Things are going very well for him right now and his post was a release, similar to screaming for joy when the Jeff Garcia throws the game winning pass with 3 seconds left to lead the 49ers to a 1 point win over the Raiders.
But then the Raiders fans have to think of some rude comment to make to feel better about losing.
Know what I mean?
