About $100/year, and you need a permanent postal address in Japan to get them.

They seem easy to purchase from Moniker and Godaddy without any restrictions, and I have used my NY PO Box, and if needed can use my wifes parents address in Japan. When .asia was offered they had a ton of restrictions where you needed to regester with an address in Asia.

I do know that the government in Japan does block certain internet addresses, this is what they told me here in Japan. I tried accessing RedTube with no problems so I am not sure which adult websites are blocked.

The .jp domains are expensive, Moniker they run $89. What I have learned visiting Japan is they dont use the words cams or webcams to describe the camera to view over the computer. The extensions used are .com, .net, .jp, and .co.jp

There was once a translation company that would translate your site and set it up on a country's home extension - been looking for them for a while but haven't found them - not sure if that would help you but if anyone knows of them, I'd sure like to find them

Yes there is someone on GFY that is with a translation company. My wife is Japanese so she can translate for me...she knows I have adult domains/websites...but I don't want her involved too much in my projects. I wish I did read Japanese because they have a ton of all Japanese Language only websites and I am sure they have affiliate programs...but mosiac I am sure.

I did email the .jp main register company and here is their response to my question: I wanted to know the policy regarding using .jp domains for an adult content website? Any information or links would be helpful.

You can learn hiragana and katakana in about two weeks. With some practice, you will be able to navigate a lot of sites. Japanese use katakana for foreign words and a lot of tabs on their websites are in katakana. The trick is to recognizie that "hoomuu" is the home page......it can be fun.
