I used to do it when I rendered the video in Adobe Premiere. But I have since switched to Sorenson Squeeze.
As for waternmarking, I use VideoCharge. It is a sweet program, and can do much more than cutting clips into pieces in seconds, as well as watermarking in no time.
Well worth the cost.Comment

I believe so. You may wanna check with Jimmy Gunn fo sho.
I only use it for text urls on my stuff. But I love being able to cut clips for clip stores in seconds. That fucking rocks (without rendering).
It has a lot of other shit can do, but I use it primarily for those things. I have frameshots thumbs, or caps, and Sorenson for compressing video. Loading that shit up with batch over night, and tada. In the morning, 10 videos done. Same you can do in VideoCharge as well.
I do not like it for capturing video. Too simplistic.Comment

Well right now the way lee taught me to do video stuff is like this...
Yasa DVD to Mpeg to rip the DVD to MPEG-2
Easy Video Splitter to split in to scenes (or clips)
Frame Shots to bulk screen cap
Sorenson Squeeze to encode in to multiple formats
Would be nice if there was a way to have something setup so it would automatically rip, split, screengrab and encode overnight.
Right now we are pretty much just encoding for members area content but we have a tube site affiliate program we're in the process of revamping ( http://www.tubetender.com ) and we're thinking about adding some 1-2 minute clips to the tours but we want to have them watermarked so this is all fairly new to us (watermarking).
Like do we watermark after ripping, or after encoding, what is the best method?Condom Cash - Gay Affiliate Program

I do the watermarking at the last step (unless cutting into pieces for clip store use).
So after the renders, and compression is done (I do not do multiple formats) then you would drag all final renders into VideoCharge. Load up your url image, or make one in their thing... picking color, text, font, size, etc..
Press play and enjoy.Comment

Very cool thanks for the info
Can i ask how long it takes to watermark using VideoCharge? Is it something that is going to take as long as the encoding process or is it a real quick thing?
Do i have to set it up to batch overnight i guess is what im asking or is it something that is very quick to do for say a 15 minute scene?Condom Cash - Gay Affiliate Program

I have a quad core for my rendering machines. I maybe take 15 minutes to an hour depending on how many clips you are doing at once. I typically do 10+ scenes. They run approximately 7-15 minutes each, so I am normally looking at like an hour to watermark them all.
I have it re-render WMV when adding the watermark. I personally think it gives better results on compression, and clarity. But that is a personal choice. You can select to not re-render, like when you are cutting clips, to speed things up if you want.
Jim Gunn could probably answer it better for you in that regard.Comment
