Yes, tell me about it. AUS$1 hit US$0.90 yesterday. When I started this game about 7 or 8 years ago it was around 55 cents I think.

According to Yahoo it's currently at 0.905

On Monday it was at 0.875

I remember when I opened my HSBC multi currency account about a year ago it was a particularly volatile time, and because they required a large opening balance I had to convert from AUD, to USD, then back to AUD (to withdraw, since I didn't want to keep the balance at HSBC). I made a net loss of about $AUD350 over those few days because of the fluctuations and conversion overheads... and all I did was transfer from one bank to another, then back...

You need $10K min to open it. I've done a few trades when the AUS was weak, and gambled a little, but there's not a lot of mileage in that game getting it wrong. Then the tax dept wants to know why there's money coming in and out of Australia, and is on you like fleas to a dog.
