Read the book too. I liked it. But, I think Kubrick is the only one that could have made the movie work.Comment

Read the book and loved the movie. A classic that kubrick made come alive.Comment

I've seen it a couple of times.
Not Kubrick's best film, but still quite good.Comment

I met Malcolm McDowell at Fan Expo in Toronto a long time ago and ran into him again at the airport after the show. A really, really nice guy who appreciates his fans and generous with his time.
I don't LOVE the movie, but I enjoyed it, and it was pretty radical for the time. I remember people describing it as "hyper violent", but it would probably be no more than PG rated today.
Good breakdown and ANALsys here:

. . . At the time Kubrick took the movie off the theaters because nobody seemed to be "getting" the point he was trying to make with it (which wasn't gloryfing ultra-violence) altough it was mainly his fault because he chopped off the original ending of the book (a reformed, married Alex DeLarge). A genius, provocative piece of filmaking . . . the movie poster (with the naked statue inside the black triangle) on video stores always enthralled me as a little kid.

I saw this movie for the first time back in the 80s in a double feature along with Kentucky Fried Movie. It was an odd combination but somehow it worked. It's a true classic and will never get old. One of those movies that you notice something new or different each time you see it.
They made a porn version of it which wasn't that great. But they usually aren't.Comment

I used to live in a punk rock group house where my housemates and guests watched that movie so much that I confiscated the plug for the TV (it was my TV) so I wouldn't have to see it again.Comment
