Its done to prevent surfers from joining as webmasters and getting free access to content. If you have a sales history with them you should be fine.

It doesn't have to be your passport, just any form of ID really for the reasons wiredguy stated and to make sure no ones using a fake name or identification. It's nothing personal they're just trying to protect their stuff.

not bad tho, in mainstream you're required to talk to an affiliate rep first before they even let you in the network

its done as a verification to match up who you say you are on your profile. its not anything malicious and if you say you are who you are it shouldn't be a big deal. webmasters trust us with all kinds of sensitive information, and honestly its only compared to your info. we do not save or keep anything.

its helped to eliminate and bring down our fraud quite significantly
