Just like it already happened... in Iraq and Afghanistan.I don't think it would make any sense to use ground troops so my enlistment is not likely necessary. I was thinking a high altitude bombing campaign carried out by the air force and a missile campaign launched from naval ships in the Persian Gulf. I would guess US losses would be minimal and that Iran's infrastructure could be completely destroyed within a few weeks.

one thing i have to admit, IRAN is fuckd and a threat...but a MUCH MUCH SMALLER THREAT than Pakistan and Saudi arabia..
but obviously US cannot win those wars...since Saudi Arabia could mobilize muslims around the world and would be the biggest war in history...and Pakistan has a scary number of islamic militants and its population is too great...
So i do see many justifyable wars...but dont know how IRAN is the top priority
one thing is for sure...IF IRAN....does something crazy...then all of you in this thread should support the US fucking them up...so i think the US needs IRAN to make the first moveComment

Obviously they failed to follow that strategy in Iraq........ hence the various troubles the US has had. Afghanistan has very little infrastructure so a bombing campaign would not be very effective. They are already in the stone age so no bombing is required.бабки, шлюхи, силаComment

Okay, heres my two cents and let me remind you my brother currently serves this Country in the US Army.
Iran is spinning out of control and something needs to be done, however this would spark a really really bad world war. For one if America were to attack Iran, Russia would not sit idle and allow US Forces to come to close to their borders. Plus Russia is contracted to build the Nuclear facility's in Iran for enrichment.
Another thing is America does not have the money to go spend on fighting another war, we did a shit job in Iraq and because of Iraq we are failing horribly in Afghanistan.

you missed one small point: the US supported and trained the Taliban so that they did not have to fight the Russians personally in Afghanistan. the same way as they supported Iraq and Saddam Hussein in his war against Iran. in like 9 out of 10 times the US is facing their own weapons from 20 or 30 years agoComment

So when Iran decides they want to come to the UN and talk, the US doesn't want to listen. Instead the US keeps military options on the table and throws fair diplomacy out the door.
The US giving another country demands isn't diplomacy and it's stupid to think that so many people are against hearing Iran's president speak but all for going in and killing Iranians.

Getting the CIA to help support the Iranian students/turn military commanders wouldn't be the worst thing ever given their election farce. Bombing them won't help that much when you'd got a pretty large section of the population that you'd alienate when you could be using them to your advantage.. Striking some sort of deal to keep their oil reserve currency in USD and help stage a coup (again) would be a smarter plan.Comment
