Study up on your history Kurtz. Canada was in World War II long before the United States. Canadians died by the thousands in both wars and were among the bravest in both world wars.
Since then of course Canada has turned into somewhat of a freeloading country when it comes to defense. Lots of critics inside Canada feel that way as well. Socialism has a lot to do with it.
Most Canadians, especially young ones, won't really 'understand' until Toronto or Vancouver suffers a 9/11. Canadians are taught from an early age that ethnic diversity is everything, if some Muslims want to blow things up, well that's just their way, we should respect that.
It's sad because Canada's past is tied to Britain and it's present and future is forever entertwined with America - Canada should be right there with the U.S and Britain in this war against terrorism but its shuffling its feet. The Cuban Missle Crissis has just been declassified, it just so happens that we almost destroyed the world, we came oh so close. The biggest reason why the USSR lost was because we out spent them and our submarines mostly the Trident drove them to bankruptcy and they fell apart.
You are talking about a country that invaded and occupied everything it went into. I don't know how old you are and it's not a slight, but maybe you just don't remember.
As for UBL, he's on the run. I thought he was dead, it appears he's not. At the end of the day, I'd rather have him alive and many of his followers dead then the other way around.
We just need to continue to hunt these people down and kill them with pain.
