okay the problem is your dvd rom drive in the system is going bad, unless your good at taking shit apart i do not advise doing this yourself and any warranty you have will be void. If you have warranty i suggest sending it in, if not take it to a local repair shop and have them replace the drive for you. Unless you know how to hack the rom of a rom drive you cannot just put any rom drive in the system.

You've sucked in too much dust and the unit is over heating. If you don't blast some compressed air in there to clean it out, you will have a red ring issue to solve soon enough.
Open it up and clean it out if you can. If not, just blast the air in through the side.

This is not the case at all. The drives don't gradually "go bad", they straight up crap out.
A cleaning might help, but his problem is overheating.
