Yeah, the hall monitors came out in spades. Happens in any situation where people are suddenly given permission from the authorities to be little bosses and Reddit is a good example, thankfully we can create our own subs.

During COVID there was a complete takeover of /r/BritishColumbia

It was down to 1 moderator who allowed dissenting posts about the masks and "vaccine", and the Reddit mods came down and banned that guy and then setup a new moderator team of 100% pro-mask, pro-vaxx, low testosterone anonymous fucking losers. You know, the type of people that would get their shit pushed in when in any real life social setting.

However, when those hall monitors got a taste of that sweet, sweet narrative-control power, they just banned the fuck out of everyone who dissented.

/r/BritishColumbia is full of the most fucking soy losers on the planet. I doubt even 50% of the posters are real. Total bots.

Canada is a hilarious place because our entire mantra is "diversity is our strength!" but there is absolutely zero room for diversity of thought. I'm banned everywhere online for dissenting in pretty milquetoast ways, never called for violence, never used slurs or hate speech, but because my opinions are dissenting and questioning of the majority of people's views, I'm just completely banned. If you even try and post my last book on Facebook, Facebook will immediately just remove it and the book is clearly tongue-in-cheek and there is no terrorist threats or anything in it. Yeah, this is much more likely. It's also likely their automod config pre-dates Reddit adding hosted images / videos to their platform and is from the days when Imgur, GFYCat and a couple others were the only games in town on Reddit.
