Is the adult community slowly moving away from icq to Skype?

seems like more and more people are moving away from icq and onto skype!

Do you see this trend happening with your webmasters? friends and co workers?

I never thought icq was that good it just was one of the first i knew of that had the history function.

ICQ/IM is just text messages for your PC. The advantages of text over voice on a phone are clear, it's really no different for the PC.

Skype is great for interaction, meetings, face to face, support, etc.. but it just doesn't hold up to the 'text' abilities, mass people using it, etc.

Skype also has to deal with services like VOIP or Digital Phones, which have free long distance.

ICQ is here to stay... probably longer than Skype will be around.

Most of you use FTP software... that's less secure than ICQ.

its not the grabbing of data .. its more the data is stored on the ICQ servers and have been used in court in the past..

Skype's not bad, but I've not once been asked to Skype by someone in adult whereas everyone still seems to ICQ. So I would say ICQ is still the standard until Skype becomes more commonplace. I would never do any business transactions based on a cam chat though - need text for history-sake.

Your history with people is on your PC, your ICQ list is at stored with them, or it used to be. I still have 2000b. Either way though, icq history or any chat history and emails can all be used in court.

Because early on it sucked and had no off line messages nor history.

Face it ICQ grabbed the market when adult started and unless a super heavily attended adult convention gets taken out with all occupants inside, with the majority of old schoolers showing up for some odd reason, then perhaps, just maybe ICQ can be challenged.
