You would do your research, do your networking and make the enquiries. My site is always for sale, at the right price. But only to serious parties. The serious parties can easily find out who I am, who my lawyer is, and then make the proper enquiries leading to an offer.

Not that I know him personally, but I believe quiet's intentions (prior to the Visa bullshit) were to let his site die along with his retirement. He wasn't interested in selling it - he was contemplating selling the content but that was just a maybe.

i am not actively looking to sell. i considered it when the Visa situation first came up, but that has been successfully navigated (at least for the time being). Trixxia is correct, i had always planned on just letting everything die out, rather than sell.
i've already have several offers much higher than what you are offering, and have turned them down. the argument being: let's say i net (after expenses) almost 1 m every 5 months. i might as well just continue running it for another 5/10/15/X months, rather than go through the hassle of selling for a couple of month's profit. and that doesn't include my ibill reserve. it's an odd situation.
certainly if someone offered me a great deal, along with the ability to exit very quickly - that could be interesting i suppose
