osCommerce is like telling people TM3 is the best new trading script.
You need Magento. We have been working shopping carts for 12 years, last 17 months all about Magento. Been a rough ride, but any webmaster with more than 10 sales/day, good accounting and multiple websites, needs something real, like Magento. Not for nothing there's a commercial version for almost 10k/year too.

Nice reply, how good is the free version of Magento for the start/testing? Are your sites using the free version or the paid version.
Your stores are very nice! How are they doing for you?
One of the stores is doing over 80 sales/day, it can handle an unlimited amount I'm sure though.
These are all the free versions, with several (paid) extensions. I'm guessing a little over 1200$ in extensions (ajax cart, image zoom, ajaxsearch and some others, also the backend has most paid extensions for order export, se export etc..).
You would never have to use the paid version if you know how to run things yourself, or know somebody who can. Also, the paid version has big warehouse features we do not want to use.
If you know what you want, you can always mail me for a quote in helping you get setup. I don't work for getafreelancer fees though, my time is precious;-)
