You are missing the point completely.

The main "mistake" here is that the parents acted irresponsibly in taking such photos of their children, and a FEMALE photo technician thought the photos were inappropriate and took the CORRECT action in reporting it upwards through many people who also agreed.

Even though IN THIS CASE after investigation, the family were not believed to have had any bad intent, there are many cases where intent IS found, and if people are scared to do their jobs and report questionable material, then who will win then?

Whatever your anti-police, anti wall-mart, or pro let people do what they want ideals, the parents DID make a very serious mis-judgement in taking those photos, and if not checked who knows where this would have ended up? If you read the report in full, it also says not only that there were many such photos and videos on their pc but also

"ABC News was able to obtain access to four of the photos. There are still nine other photographs which were not released because the Demarees' lawyer said that the photos were intended for private home use and showing them to outside parties would violate the law for distribution of child pornography."

That is THEIR OWN LAWYER'S opinion on the photos.....

You are far too blinkered in this matter, and comparing this case to a guy IN ITALY who hugged and kissed his child in a park is totally irrelevant.

Also, far from everybody "admitting they acted too swiftly", I saw:

"The Police and prosecutors insist they did what they thought was appropriate."

and

"The city of Peoria also states that it stands behind the appropriate actions of their officers."

which is a bit different.

No doubt there is more to this story than EITHER of us know, but all I have ever been commenting is that I believe that the lady in wall-mart acted correctly when finding what she considered inappropriate material and I hope that she and other people working in that line of work will continue to do so as if doing so stops even one paedophile it is worth it...

and before the inevitable response of "what if it was you and your children?", I have already stated that I wouldn't take naked pictures of my cildren.

Better call walmart photo department and report google images for publishing all those bathtime photos.
