Hosting Companies, this is why we get pissed off.

I have a few dedicated servers, a VPS and a bunch of shared hosting.

    Today's round of hosting fun.

    1) I placed a banner ad on a high volume site - the hosting company pulled the image, setting the file permissions to 0, without even telling me. It's an unlimited plan supposedly, unrestricted.

    2) This on a VPS - suddenly noticed a massive loss of traffic from a couple of high ranking sites - asked them why none of my sites on that box were showing:

    "Hello,

Your server was found to be stopped and we had started it. The domains are loading fine from our end now. Please have a try after clearing the browser cache and update us if you are facing any issues further.

    With Regards,
    Dave"

I'd if it wasn't costing me money every time they fuck up.

    Isn't it obvious?
If being down costs you money, you need to spend a little bit more on your hosting so you can make more money.

There are plenty of affordable hosting companies that will proactively monitor your servers/sites.
    Does anyone look down here?

As I mentioned, I have some dedicated servers too. The only hosting company to have never fucked up costs me around $300 per month.

The issue is spreading around over 200 sites, mixing up IP addresses etc for your own network. You can't, well I can't, go round with 20 different hosting companies each costing you $300 per month, as (mostly) an affiliate marketer. You need to mix up shared / vps / dedicated, based on $ earnt from each site / project.

99% of the time hosting companies will piss you off in one way or other, within 2 years of signing up with them. I doubt there are many that the sig whores on here push, that I haven't tried either.

Sounds like you should host the more important sites on the better hosts. So the $2000/month site goes on the $100/month host and the $300/month site goes on the $20/month host (assuming both hosts have equal value).
        Does anyone look down here?

Know exactly how you feel. Write a long supporticket about how a hosting account dont work right, listing alle the errors and when I think it was + links to the errorlogs

and then you get "It works from here" message as a reply

Makes me want to kill people.

this is why my next server for US sites are with ISPRIME, and the EU sites is hosted on my own box here in denmark

You know what KrisH, that's precisely it.

It's never an admission on their behalf that they fucked up.

The host in case 1 for example, sent me a mindless reply about the server or my account may have been compromised, and suggested I scan my PC for Malware LMFAO.

They didn't even cross check to see if they'd done anything dodgy to my account first. I knew full well it was an issue on their side.

I know what you're saying RK, but if a host of any size / paid however much, doesn't monitor their servers properly (how is a consumer supposed to know these things prior to signing up?), and you have to find out yourself the hard way, then what can you do?

You are talking about a shared host?
If so, it's an unlimited plan in bandwidth, but not unlimited in the share of computing power you get.
