The season finale is on HBO tonight.

WTF? It seems like the season is just starting to get going.

That's HBO for ya - They make a few episodes (what was there, like 8 of 'em?) and now we have to wait another year?

On a more positive note, I predict that some one gets whacked tonight...

It suprised me when I heard it - They just showed a preview on HBO and I could have sworn that I heard them say 'season finale'.

The preview looks great. It has Ralphy (Isn't he an asshole?) flipping out with Tony shoving him into a wall.

Lol... glad I didn't read this thread before it came on over here.

This season is good, just different. It's showing the human side of the characters more than ever. I guess girls like that stuff, but I also like it when people get whacked.

I can't believe I was wrong on one prediction I had for the show though. I thought for sure that Tony was gonna get 'hit' but not killed by the old geezers they hired to take out Ralphie.

It was much more satisfying to see Ritchie Aprille get whacked and cut up at Satriales. While I probably hated Ralphie more for killing his girlfriend, Ritchie was pure evil.

Ralphie was a strong character in the series. What sucks is that they kill some of the best ones and it seems like the world is gonna cave in on Tony ( with Paulie, junky Christopher, Furio trying to bang his wife, that hahahaha sister ).
The way its going they might as well end the series at the end of the season unless they introduce new characters and stop showing men cry every fuckin week.

I would say that's because the world IS going to cave in on Tony. That's the idea.

Expect the Russian that Paulie and Chris couldn't catch to return for vengeance.

Expect the FBI to get something on Tony.

Expect Furio to try to kill Tony, or Tony to catch them in bed.

Expect a war with Carmines family.

Expect Paulie to turn - Hell, even Silvio was looking disloyal a couple eps ago.

Gotta have lots of ways this shit can go down if they're going to end with the bang that I think they are. They're foreshadowing plenty of possible endings.

I doubt they'll bring back that Russian angle...but may of those other things could easily be true. The overall theme of this season shows how the family's problems aren't from outside influences, but they are collapsing from the inside. Even Tony himself doesn't have a hold of things. The values he tries to uphold he's overlooking himself. He knows you're not supposed to touch a made man (Ralphie) and tells Paulie not to, but then kills him himself. He spanks his assemblyman friend for fucking his old girlfriend, then does the same thing to Ralph next episode.

But, I would lay odds that the Russian will return. It was just too juicy, and if that guy lived at all (and he did, since he stole Paulies Caddy) - he'll definitely come back for vengeance. Remember he was some legendary KGB hardass. It'll be ugly.

They're just letting most of the casual viewers forget who he is. Dramatic pacing is a good thing.

Here are my predictions:

War with the NY Mob.
Tony and Carmela's marrage becomes unraveled.
Furio fucks Carmela and get's whacked.
The Russian from the Pine Barrons comes back - with his Russian Mob friends.

With talks about next season maybe being the last one, there are some many different ways that this could all play out.

But you have to take into consideration that this show is notorious for building up a situation, only for nothing to happen.

Exactly. See you can't watch The Sopranos like that. It doesn't tell the story where every episode is built on the last one. It's kinda how some of the X-Files shows were. Some episodes are just 'slice of life' type shows where you get a feel of what they go through day to day but they don't necessarily have to be part of the backbone of the big picture. Like I think David Chase said on the Season 1 DVD, they weren't even gonna carry out the 'Where's Pussy?' angle to start Season 2, but it became like a cliffhanger phenom that he didn't expect so they decided to write it out. Also like the Massive Genius angle with the big lawsuit with Hesch and the family. Or they could have carried out Dr. Melphi's rapist angle. Some things don't matter that much in the big picture.

I do not think Tony will get whacked to end next season personally. The whole show has dealt with him trying to cope with his lifestyle and finding a way out. Early seasons Carmella stressed him for them to leave and go into the 'program' after he got shot. That was not a viable out for him. Now as we come to the end he's seeing this new possibility of only trusting true family (blood) to get out alive and retire in Florida or something.

I see the Furio situation the same as Chris wanting to leave to Hollywood. He's at a crossroad where he could do something dumb, or stay with the family. And I think Furio will do what's right.
