Just another straw man argument from a right winger.
Let's see, how many beers would it take to buy individual health insurance for a small family - individual accounts in my state are about 600 a month for a decent policy for 3 people with a 1000 deductible. Assuming they dont smoke and have no pre-existing. It's higher if they want maternity benefits.
How much does a minimum wager or part timer make a month now? Enough to pay rent and buy food for their family AND give the insurance company $600?
So, they have the money to spend on a beer - but they don't have enough money to pay the rent AND buy health insurance.
It's a fake argument.
A right winger makes a clownish video filled with hate and envy for young people, and that's supposed to be a legitimate argument?
Soon enough you'll have your way baddog, and your corporate masters will have passed a law fining those young people for not having health insurance - making the insurance companies even richer, and creating a huge new bureaucracy to federally enforce buying corporate insurance.
Congratulations, baddog, you just made the federal government bigger, and created a whole new class of criminals - folks who can't afford overpriced health insurance.Comment

As far as I know there aren't any specifics as yet... there isn't even a bill yet really... just a number of proposed bills. If the bill is deficit neutral and doesn't raise additional taxes on the middle class... I don't see a problem.Last edited by nation-x; 09-14-2009, 01:39 PM.Comment

And this my friends is what the whole deal boils down to. I'll add a bit though. A whole new bureaucracy telling you how to live, eat and die as well as mandating things such as Flu Vaccines. Almost sounds like slavery eh?Last edited by onwebcam; 09-14-2009, 02:50 PM.PLEASE WAIT WHILE BIDEN ADMIN UNINSTALLS ITSELF.....

The great depression is coming all over again it just looks like things are balancing out but in fact all they are doing is damage control and soon so many people will be unemployed and in 10 years there probably wont be any social security. I heard the other day about them passing a bill for all those that can't afford insurance well i guess will have to see what happens.Aim: okny

You/your parents/grandparents allowed the government to force you into a ponzi scheme. Just like Social Security, medicare/medicaid, soon to be health and 401k/retirement. Before you know it your whole check/earnings will be disbursed out for you.PLEASE WAIT WHILE BIDEN ADMIN UNINSTALLS ITSELF.....

funny video, true too.
while i don't agree entirely with hr 3200 hc plan, i do like how it does away with pre-existing conditions rules.
i would like to see a plan geared more along the lines of medicaide.
medicaide was created in the 1960s, it has only a 3% overhead and in the 45 years of it's existence, i've yet to see any reports that the government uses it to tell you how to live, eat and die as well as mandating things such as Flu Vaccines.

I take it you haven't read the bills. I'll bet the house on vaccines being required. Hell there's a lawsuit going on right now where a girl is being denied citizenship because she won't take a vaccine. A vaccine which is proving to be very dangerous no less.funny video, true too.

there's 1 bill, the one i mentioned. it's over 1100 pages, i doubt anyone has read it in it's entirety. i have read much of it verbatim and have read much analysis and such on the matter.
what i stated is completely accurate and verifiable whilst you are merely betting you are right- i.e. you don't even have a clue what is included in the bill.
i don't expect you to maintain a level headed perspective on the matter, just pointing out the irony of your comment.Comment

Health Care Bill Will Fund State Vaccine Teams to Conduct ?Interventions? in Private Homes
There is a knock at the front door. Peeking through the window, a mother sees a man and a woman, both in uniform. They are agents of health-care reform.
?Excuse me, ma?am,? says the man. ?Our records show that your eleven-year-old daughter has not been immunized for genital warts.?
?And your four-year-old still needs the chicken-pox vaccine,? says the woma

Funny video.
All kidding aside though, how about choosing between paying for health insurance and paying the mortgage?
Lots of people struggling out there nowadays and the last thing they need is to be hit with another big ass bill every month.
Reasonably priced health insurance with none of that pre-existing condition crap should be made available to everyone. I really hope they can pull it off.
But, nobody should be forced to buy health insurance.A hard dick has no conscience.Comment

But yes it is expensive and there is an easy way to make it cheaper.
1) Open up buying over state lines
2) Have a term life insurance type health insurance where your contract can be for 5, 10, 15, 20+ years.
Do those things first and lets see how it goes. No need to throw the whole system on its head when there are simple solutions that should be tried first.

Apples and oranges.
Auto insurance requirements are about liability, i.e. paying the other guys bills in the event that you fuck up. It's also about making sure that the bank gets paid for the cars you're both driving.

This is actually a worse way of thinking. What you are actually saying here is:
If we can GIVE people FREE healthcare with the money WE are ALREADY taxed, it's okay.
The answer to that is NO!!!!!
If you want health care, get a fucking job. If you working for minimum wage is not providing you and your 5 kids with sufficient health care, you should look into acquiring a vocation that will support you in more lavish style. To wit, if you can't afford health care, you can't afford drugs, playstation, cell phone, cigarettes, etc.How ya like my sig?Comment

Not necessarily.
The economy is in the tank now, it wasn't before. More to the point, buying health insurance was not legally required before.
Tort reform would be a good idea too.
Bring the cost waaaaay down first and then maybe we can talk about forcing people to buy that shit.A hard dick has no conscience.Comment

Because I don't see any problem with taxing the group of people who have gained the most from the actions of the previous administration. I didn't agree with the Bush tax cut when it was done... even John McCain spoke out against it. I still don't think it should have been done. Look at any income graphs from the Reagan era until now and you will see that the rich have been getting richer... the poor have been getting poorer and the middle class is disappearing. Almost noone has a truly career employment position and our manufacturing base has left in droves... all in an atmosphere with the lowest tax brackets for the rich in almost a century.
The people who whine about "smaller government" have no real idea of what that means. It means a country like Mexico that has lots of resources but no real middle class because the government doesn't really serve the people as a whole. The fake cry of "socialism" is ridiculous... we have been a socio-capitalist country since the New Deal. Social Security and Medicare are a good thing... but without a middle class they are doomed... because they are the primary contributors and recipients. I don't want to live in a country with no middle class... because it is a country that will be made up of "plantations" and "plantation workers". The middle class gives our country balance and is the foundation of it's successes.Comment

For those who don't understand the implication of that graph... it is a paradigm in which the rich are gaining wealth at almost twice the rate of those in the lower income bracket. The fact that our economy is in such a shambles proves that Supply Side (trickle down) economics does not work to build jobs or increase economic opportunity for the working class... all it does is siphon the wealth into the pockets of the rich. That is pure capitalism... right? It is the flaw of capitalism... because as the rich gain more wealth their consumer base is eroded. Eventually they won't have any more consumers... why do you think they are trying to globalize the economy? To gain more consumers.... because they are already seeing the economic strain in the domestic economy.Comment
