    How easy would it be to set up your own dedicated server system yourself?

    I am not looking to do so, but just interested in what you would need and need to do.

    For instance, I presume these firms have some sort of super fast connection to the internet. And how easy is that to get?

    Then I presume you need some powerful server, and are these super expensive?

    I am guessing you need some dedicated building, rather than have it done in a rented office.

      All you need to do is fixed ip address and quality connection. Server configuration depend on howmany traffic you need.

                  My very first web page was hosted on my own computer. It was more of a test to see if I could do it than an actual website.

                  Can you host it on your own? Sure. However, it's just like anything else. Imagine spending weeks or months working on a website only to have it disappear instantly because you made a mistake. Sometimes it's best to let the experts do it.

                      In this era i would say it also depend where you clients reside - if your market is US but you live in Europe better to have rented server.

                                      These days nobody does it because with all those clouds solutions available, why go through the troubles? Everything you would set up yourself would be (a lot) more expensive an less efficient.

                                          I think everyone should learn to setup their own server. It is a little challenging if you have never done it before, but more importantly it is a great learning experience and it can even save you money.
