I think much of the 80's falls into the category of 'deliciously bad'

from the jeans to the hair to the music videos...with a backdrop of neon and smoke machines

but it was the formative years of hip hop so there's that too

I once drove behind the ZZ Top car in the late 80's and I was so bummed it never stopped for gas. I mean, they probably were not in it, but that video. Ah, for a time-traveling Galaxy s23 then.

I would guess the difference is probably that the 80's was such an earnest decade. like not fronting, just the gleeful abandon brought on by hair product and wearing high-waist jeans

That was SO my era, that I dont even see Pete Burns as 'Unusual'... Just totally normal!

Until he got obsessed with the plastic surgery just before he died that is....

I also used to think that Doctor and Medics took a lot from his look... Just the look though - Not the flamboyance
