If its just in FF and not IE, it sounds like a caching issue. If it was a virus or adware, it would take over all requests over all browsers, not just FF.

False
You never have any idea what you are talking about. Hilarity
firefox has issues man. an affiliate program i have a toolbar bookmark for is showing the google icon instead. its sort of frustrating. i deleted and readded and still the same thing. i believe its a problem with firefox because i dont have a virus.
run ccleaner and delete the cache
then run a antivirus scan on all files
I believe cccleaner is the reason it fucked it up. although i cant be sure. registry cleaning programs can really fuck shit up sometimes. i refuse to use them more than once every three months. recently and instead of ccleaner ive used the normal disk cleanup located under accessories/system tools/
its worth suing someone because you believe they hacked your server to replace a 16X16 icon with that of another site... which of course, would cause serious damages to your own shitty / failing link lists from 1998.
i'm sure that if i was going to target a shitty, useless site, this would be my first avenue of attack as well.... i'd be up day and night thinking "how can i change favicons on a large scale - i'll rule the world".... then i'd target retarded webmasters who have a short fuse and low IQ so they'll run to the boards instantly and tell the world i'm quietly taking over.
