It takes a lot to get a standard person pissed off enough to take action. Last year the Democrats and Independents did it with the election, this year Republicans and a good number of Independents are doing it with tea parties, town hall meetings, and now this... which I have a feeling is just the beginning.
I'm not much for protesting, but both last summer/fall and now this year are very interesting to watch. You should get off GFY and out of your house. Visit one of these tea party protests or even one of the websites, or even a rally. I suggest a forum for maximum exposure to the stupidity online though.
Did you know several states are trying to break away from the United States? Yep, it's truly that stupid. Texans for example say the Church will teach your kids.. It has huge support btw..
You should really visit one of these places, read the signs.. see what they chant and say. It's pure stupid spewing all over the place.
Guys bringing guns saying 'That Nig Won't Take My Guns.' Again, I suggest you visit one of the many tea parties in your area. It feels real real safe having a bunch of half drunk hicks screaming about Mexicans and Blacks.
It's so bad, you can't take your kids to this stuff... you couldn't ever explain it.

I give them credit for going out and saying what they believe in. It just seems a little disingenuous to me when we have been spending money like crazy for the last 8 years yet they only wait until now to protest.
I don't think it is a race thing. I'm sure there are some racists in the crowd, but you get that anywhere you get a crowd. I think it is a partisan thing. I think the whole tea party movement started out on its own and had good intentions, but I think it has been taken over by the republicans who are now using it as a tool to reconnect with their base.Comment

The signs people have a freakin amazing... and most of the speakers are crazy. "This is not the America my dad died for" (of course it was under Bush) "New leaders that tell us the truth" (yeah, Bush told the truth) "No more bailouts, 'Obama' has to stop"...
It would be one thing if they actually protested the fed reserve, the entire tax system, all gov control or even real Constitutional stuff, or maybe the extreme rights they lost under bush.. actually stuff that would change our Country.

This isn't just conservatives, or just about Obama, or just about health care. The rallies weren't originally about health care at all. It's about the government taking over every facet of our lives!
