I have a bad liver at 35, so it would be for my own good. Sadly my wife hasn't done this to me... It may actually motivate me more...| skype: getscorecash | ICQ: 59-271-063 |

Luckily the question hasn't been asked yet, but I need to tone it down a while though, the last couple of weeks have been a blizzard of alcohol.Comment

If they're asking, most likely you have a problem. They're trying to do you a favor.

I voted no, I enjoy a drink. My partner did ask me to cut down when we got together though I was working the club scene and was trashed every night. I could see it was for my own good and I did cut down, I now only drink every now and again.David • 421-179-116 • support [@] adultnetworkuk [.] com

I don't drink except the occasional beer (about 1 a month or less), so YES!
Now, if I had to decide if I'd give up Diet Coke or not, that's a different story.

I wouldn't have any problems with that. I drink maybe a few times per year (drunk). A few beers after a sauna maybe once a month. My wife actually said I SHOULD get out more and party with my friends, she finds my lack of social activity distrubing
..and I'm off.Comment

I voted no, because I believe that the only person who can make the decision to never drink again, is YOU...

Have to agree with this man here... If you are drinking to the point were people are saying they will leave, you definitely have a problem and they are not it. When you reach this point the bottom isn't far away.Comment

So ACTUALLY having a bad liver and knowing that you could die early just so that she could get thrusted by a new young buck isn't motivation enough?Comment

I guess i was thinking more in terms of the fact my partner had a problem and I needed to give it up to support her. Since 90% of those relationships break up anyways I guess I would call it quits with her and skip the hassle.Comment

Of course, I don't really drink as it is now any how.Comment

depends. if im wasted all the time i would probably have a problem and need help. if im just drinking on the weekend and not to excess i'd say she would have to relax or go.you don't know you're wearing a leash if you sit by the peg all day..Comment

I was confronted with that choice in my 20's and after college. I chose booze.
In my thirties, with the right woman, I would have chosen the other. However, it's a non-issue now as I quit 5 years ago. So I no longer need to worry about chew, or booze any longer.

That's about the size of it. She's irritated that I cut loose on the weekend, and because she's pregnant, she can't.
The trouble is I work like a dog all week and enjoy getting tanked on good wine on the weekend, but we have a kid as well already, that needs looking after. Hard to do when hungover like a muppet. I need a live in au pair. That would work on a number of levels.

I guess it all depends on the situation. How much do you love this person? Are you an alcoholic and they are just tired of you drinking your life away? The lit goes on and on so the answer all depends on why exactly they are asking this from you and how much in love with them are you.ICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

That's an easy one - yes. If she's not the love of your life, your relationship should end soon enough at which point you can go back to drinking. If she is the love of your life and is asking you to do that, chances are it's for your own good and you should do it anyways.

If I was an alcoholic, yes. But there's nothing wrong with drinking a bit every weekend, so I wouldn't just give that up.Comment

well, their unhappiness is a big consideration. but you have to think about why they are asking, and it most likely is a problem. either you drink too much and or the relationship is worse because of your drinking. either you are out without her, or don't treat her the same etc.
my drinking past isn't really important to detail here i think. but suffice it to say, you can quit and be quite happy. it may take years to reach that point, but its a good thing all in all.http://www.cuteasianpussy.com

in that case than ya, I would walk. Like you, I barely drink. Prior to august 22 I didn't have any alcohol in like 4 years. Not because I'm an alcoholic, but I'm not a big drinker.ICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

There's a big difference between someone who's a heavy drinker, who can function normally for 99% of the time, and an alcoholic, who has a problem functioning in society to a reasonable level, and totally reliant on alcohol.
Some good answers in here, I thought most would be of Spunky's nature, but I'm incredibly surprised they aren't.Comment

I know of plenty highly functional alcoholics. Wake up, drink. Go to work, drink. Come home from work, drink until they pass out. Wake up, repeat. It's a hell of a life to live, IMHO, but it seems to work for them. I'd choose something else.
Something that hasn't been addressed here: is it only a phase for you? I rarely drink, but every few years I'll go through a period of a few months to a year where I drink once or twice a week ... then it dies down to hardly no drinking.
Sometimes I like to drink, most of the time I don't. I am the DD 95% of the time and also don't drink 9 out of 10 times that I throw a party where everybody is getting trashed.
BUT...when I do drink, I drink to get drunk. Probably why I am not a big drinker in the first place; I don't drink for the taste of it.Comment

No way, I mean I can see the circumstance if the person was a total alcoholic. But then it's not really about "stop drinking for me", it's more about "stop your addiction, quit hurting your friends and family, secure yourself and your job and your future - for me". Slightly different.
Unless it was that circumstance, there is no way.

Is that 100% 100%? I could easily give up getting hammered. I have less and less interest in going out and getting annihilated these days. However on a hot day, I do like a cold beer or two. I don't see how that is unreasonable.
If I can't even have a nice cool light domestic beer on a summer afternoon, well fuck her, she can pack her bags and leave. If she just wants me to stop getting hammered and passing out in a puddle of my own piss on the kitchen floor at 4:00am on a Tuesday night, I could probably work on that...Comment
