Currently it only comes loaded with the one default skin (as majority if not all the others do) but we wanted to add something more for you guys, which is why we launched the design contest also. Once that is finished and we select the winners, those winning designs will be included with ALL versions of Liquid Media (both existing license holders and new orders). Hope this helps!

I figured I would step in here.
I have worked extensively with Wordpress in the past and will have a solution ready this week to handle a completely WP -> LM data transfer. Obviously this will not keep the WP skin, but I can certainly import all post entries and their dates. So it will be fairly seamless. With that said, Chris will address the concerned regarding SEO and switching to another script. (He is the SEO half of our team) ;)Comment

The importing scripts will be finished next week and yes you will have the ability to import your WP database along with the databases of many other popular scripts.
BUT there are two takes on this, with SEO in mind:
A) If you have a well established blog running on Wordpress or any other blog platform and are seeing good results in the search engines (ranking and traffic) then I would NOT recommend you switch the main platform of your site to ANY other platform. The reason for this as we all know is that search engine's are without a doubt finicky. Being big on SEO myself I would not suggest switching your primary platform IF you have good rankings and risk Google having some sort of problem with it and dropping your site in the ranks. HOWEVER this is not to say that Liquid Media's blogging system is not just as powerful because without a doubt it is. Simply that is might not we a wise decision in regards to SEO IF your site is already established and well ranked.
B) If you are working with a not so established blog that does not yet have good ranking in the search engines or a lot of traffic from them then YES I would suggest importing your Wordpress db into Liquid Media to allow you to combine all of the features on a single page.
Whether you feel A or B is a better route to take in your case, Liquid Media can still be used to increase features thus keeping visitors on your site longer and returning more often. If A was a better option you could setup subdomains like tube.yourdomain.com to run Liquid Media's tube features, tgp.yourdomain.com to make use of its picture gallery features, or both if you wish - all while keeping your main platform in place as to not risk any negative SE results. Or if B was a better route for you to take you can import and combine all of the features together right on your main index.

The default skin included with every copy has every feature enabled. Beyond that, I am working on a video tutorial to explain away any additional concerns or frustrations with regards to integration. We want this as seamless as possible.
I elected not to go with the smarty engine for Liquid Media. In testing I found my own solution to be many times faster due to the reduced overhead of not including smarty. While it's a great template solution, a lot of non-techies find it overly complicated and I want to avoid that as much as possible. To that end, I am almost always available to field questions and the forum, with it's many tutorials is the perfect place to handle any integration concerns (as everyone can benefit from that).
As far as flexibility, there really are no limitations. The thumbnail engine is completely free-form and can start and stop in any location along with any html/php on any templates. Meaning you can certainly make pretty much any design work. Thumbnail sizes can be switched on the fly and the engine will automatically generate new thumbnails in the specs you define.
Meaning you could switch to say 200x100 (wide) thumbs from the default and instantly the site will update and the new size will be active. The script's smart caching algorithm prevents cpu load by only re-generating pages as they're accessed. Meaning as each page is loaded, it will update to the new thumb size and then cache the result until something changes. This means every surfer is served a STATIC html page meaning zero load time. (Save for stats logging -- 3 sql UPDATE queries) Admin accounts have nothing cached so any changes are instant for you. (cropping, approving, skinning, etc)
