I had their brand new sales rep contact me about 5 times in 3 days. He was selling adspace, I had to school him on a bunch of things. From what does SEM stand for B2B. At one point during the conversation I said, "Our website is for adult webmaster/affiliates/blogger etc, you know B2B. There's not much ROI advertising with you guys" He goes to say, "Well we're a business, we have a business license and-all and you're a business; so this would be a business to business deal"
I'm not a genius here, nor am I some well know person in the industry. However, after chatting with him I felt like GOD-all-mighty and a freaking genius!!! Must be really hard times if iPorn can't take the time to educate their sale team.Comment

If he can make a billion off of the short name camgirls.com, he could make a trillion off the short name of iporn.com! I've never met someone straight selling traffic that was willing to send traffic on an "affiliate basis".
It seems to me their business model is to only sell traffic. Period. No matter who it is.
I'm not going to say that all traffic brokers are bull shit.....But i think they know they will always make more $ selling it directly to you, period.
If it worked the other way, why would anyone sell ad spots at all? Why not send it as an affiliate & make top dollar every time....i dunno

In the case of the iPorn scam, it was not the traffic brokers sending traffic directly to the advertisers and affiliate banners, they were sending it to a n iPorn "rotation landing page" that Francis had one of the techs create with a script that would then forward it to the advertisers. The advertisers that were screaming the loudest about not getting enough hits would get multiple rotations.
It is hard to imagine that any of the traffic brokers in the biz would be willing participants in this fraud.Comment

Very true. If an employee is going to sell you out for one bribe, then its a high probability that he's done it before and willing to do it again. Rest assurred, the company was told which employee sold them out and it will be up to them if they take any action. If it was my company, just firing the bastard would not be nearly enough punishment.Comment

Hard to Blame the Salespeople
With the exception of iPorn's new VP Sales hired in June, these days Francis purposely hires sales people that are not from the adult industry. Obviously anyone from the industry would catch onto this scam early on and refuse to participate. In fact, all the earlier industry people that worked at AdultVest and iPorn have 'left the building' never to return. Even the new non-industry sales people leave once they truly understand what is going on. Francis purposely keeps them in the dark so he can feed lies to them.
It is difficult to train someone when the foundation of your sales efforts are based on a scam. But Francis does incent his salespeople that reach his scam quota with promises of free trips "around the world" or to "Berlin" or "Amsterdam" or "Miami." Unfortunatley for the salespeople -- who are as much victims as the advertisers they sell to -- the only ones taking trips at iPorn these days are Francis, his new VP Sales and his new CFO (who has learned how to do the books the Koenig way).
At the very least, he should send postcards to the advertisers and investors thanking them for his trips.Comment

About 12 or so of us are at the breakfast spot inside the hard rock. Me, Anthony and Porno Dan were the only non IPORN employees there. Then the bill comes. lol
Anthony goes to pull out his wallet and i push it down and tell him to watch. Everyone there including Francis and all of his employees including his vice president are scrambling to grab there wallets. Porno Dan left to shoot a scene ten minutes earlier. Me and Anthony are laughing at all of these guys pulling out ones, fives and quarters.
Me and Anthony are pissing on ourselves, because this went on for 10+ minutes. Meanwhile i already slipped the waitress $200 bucks to pay the bill.
Watching all of these IPORN people pull out pocket lint and pocket change because the baller boss was too cheap to take care of his employees was too funny!! Was waiting for Francis to do the right thing, because he was supposedly the head Baller, never happened. Was so entertaining, it was worth the $200.
