A Georgia man allegedly slapped a toddler at a Walmart store because she wouldn't stop crying, authorities said.

Roger Stephens, 61, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree cruelty to children. An incident report obtained from police in Gwinnett County indicates indicated Stephens did not know the 2-year-old girl he stands accused of hitting.

The confrontation happened shortly before noon at the Walmart in Stone Mountain, a suburb of Atlanta.

According to the arresting officer, the child's mother of the girl said her daughter was crying as they walked down one of the aisles.

The mother said a stranger later identified as Stephens approached them and said, "If you don't shut the baby up, I will shut her up for you."

A few moments later, while the mother and the crying child were in another aisle, Stephens allegedly grabbed the girl and slapped her across the face.

Police said he hit her four or five times. "See, I told you I would shut her up," the suspect allegedly told the mother.

That parent was probably outraged. Personally, im outraged when having to listen to screaming brat kids in a public place.

Well, a two year getting slap is a bit over board. I would have taken the guy down using my grappling/wrestling/BJJ skills until the cops got there. I don't think I would have hit him back since it is not in my nature to hurt someone unless my life was threaten.

i've been around martial arts most of my life. i've owned schools. i've seen 1000s of people train. i can tell just from your attitude and personality that you are a huge pussy. you are one of those fantasy world, kung fu goof balls that thinks he can catch bullets with his teeth just because he showed up to someones retarded fantasy camp, strip mall class twice a week for 4 months. i'm sure you have all your t-shirts with your schools logos on them that you want people to notice you wearing. you probably even have some retarded asian tattoos like kanji symbols for peace or strength or whatever the fuck.

one thing i've learned from many years of traditional karate is that only a very tiny % of people can actually man up and fight when it comes down to it... no matter how much training they have in a controlled environment with little chance of injury or without fighting someone that is legitimately trying to take their head off or die.

While what you say is absolutely true for most if not all traditional martial arts it's generally not the same for arts that are trained "live". You'll have a hard time getting a fight out of any karate gym, but walk in to a boxxing gym and try the same stuff and you'll probably leave black and blue.

i just said this to someone on iCQ...

this is absolutely true. i started training very hard. 3-4hrs a day, 5-6 days a week in Go Ju Ryu. i wanted to be Bruce Lee. i wanted to have the fastest guys come up to me and throw everything they had and be able to block it.... just like in a movie.

i got to that point. in fact, my biggest problem became that i was too comfortable with defense (which obviously won't win a fight)

the whole time i felt weird.

like something was wrong.

i became increasingly aware that someone was very wrong. felt wrong. i couldn't put my finger on it.

i was sparring with my friend who was a second degree black belt and won countless tournaments at full speed and power and he was coming at me with everything and i was calmly blocking everything he had with soft deflections (hence the "hard/soft" = "go/ju")

i realized at that moment that the reason i was calmly deflecting everything was that i had no real fear that he was going to actually connect and knock me out.

i realized at that moment what a huge, false sense of security i had and began to understand that it wasn't just kung fu and all the goofy shit that was mostly fake... but that as you said... anything that doesn't train with live full speed and full contact is basically fake.

thats why i got away from Shotokan and Go Ju and got into boxing and kick boxing. you know where you stand. you fuck up... you get stung hard. you get knocked out. you get used to hitting and getting hit. you get used to people jumping right up in your face and trying to knock you out. you don't get that with any other martial arts.

... and this guy above... who's going to use his "wrestling" because he doesn't believe in fighting.. uhm... yeah. seen many of those come and go. they are always the first pussies to quietly sulk out of the gym when things get real and someone actually hits them or when things don't go according to plan as happens with actual fights.

i'm always amazed that idiots can train to fight.. but then never fight or claim to be against fighting. or better yet go the kung fu route and start talking about how their techniques are just too dangerous for tournaments or whatever.

even worse is women in martial arts. only a very small % of men can actually man up and trade blows when its real. whatever that number is... women would only be a tiny % of those. but everyone wants to think they're Bruce Leroy when walking down a dark alley. i hate the fact that women take martial arts classes... not because of the .05% that can actually excel.. but because of the 99.95% that are just deluding themselves and building a false sense of security as they pretend the laws of physics no longer apply because they listened to some friendless jackoff teach Rex Kwon Do for 45 minutes a week.

I hate people who take their screaming kids anywhere. Be a parent and learn to control your kid. If it won't do anything but scream when you take it out of the house. Leave it the fuck at home. That's why kids have 2 parents.

When my kids were small, we didn't go to movies with them, didn't go out to eat with them and if they were fussy, only one of us went to the store. Why people feel it's their right to force strangers to listen to their little brats have tantrums is beyond me. If I go out to dinner, I want to enjoy myself, not listen to your kid scream the whole time.

Seems to me that the average parent with a 2 year old is going to be more physically fit and definitely faster than the average 61 year old man.

Now it's possible that Gramps up there is in better shape than he looks, but I don't see stepping up to this asshole in a grocery store as being a particularly dangerous thing to do.
