This is a show where you get close to the key people, for me the Island gathering has been very productive. Still spending 5 to 6K to attend a show...need to think twice.

We're not going either. We probably would have this year had it stayed in Curacao maybe, but for us the big problem is timing. The Island Gathering is at the wrong time of the year for us since it comes right after Internext AND Qwebec Expo, and usually right before other shows such as Xbiz and WMA.

This thread seems evident of the growing opinion that there are entirely too many shows, and what was once effective networking is turning into the global party circuit that many of us simply can't justify spending money on.

I suspect that if this whole industry convened only ~3-4 times per year and spent the rest of the time and money used at the shows in Oklahoma, Uzbekistan, Paraguay etc. on more sensible ends, we'd all be making a lot more money right now.

We were planning to go but found out the flight is 24 hours from LA. We will not be able to make it but I highly recommend if you can go, you should. Fabian and Dana always put on great events and I have been to Curacao 3x now and to their Panama show too.
