like said by others the gideon guy is 100% correct in most all copyright debates i have seen him post on here and get bashed for. i can get he may just be a whipping boy because you personally do not like the laws, can not wrap your heads around how in the hell it works the way he says considering it seems like theft and is often used as theft. still does not make it wrong though, many laws are also very weird and or twisted that way, so all i can say is do not kill the messenger and ignore his posts if you do not agree with what he says about copyright. still not sure, plop down a couple hundred bucks and have a copyright attorney explain it to you. nothing has changed for awhile now and unless the supreme court reverses itself do not expect it to.

i however do not get his ad bug ideas, unless he has posted how and what they are and how i could use them. i am pretty sure i could not do product placement like some shows are doing now thanks to dvr's and other technology. i also do not get his other ideas for making money using other tricks he has and again i would appreciate a link if he has ever posted the list of all the ways, and how.

I'm pretty sure the ad bugs he refers to are the "watermark" type animated ads you see in what some channels are running over the entire bottom right or left of their shows. In most cases now, they're just promoting their own new shows.

I could be wrong though. Maybe he'll be back to explain.

why would i be anyones fake nick? is it because i am almost 100% sure that what i have read of his about actual copyright during the past couple of months i lurked and after i finally had my account approved.
i have also told people to stop responding to him in the streaming content 10 page thread, suppose i would tell others to ignore me if i lived for debating like it seems he does? heck he seems to go out of his way to post in such threads to get people to argue with him. i also think the last thing he would need is some unknown username trying to make others think he is right when it is very obvious that he does not care what you think of him or his thoughts, he just keeps hammering away with anyone who responds to him.

i just happen to own content. i also have treated what i do as a business since day one. primarly because it was supposed to support me in college as my income. i got concerned with theft like i am sure all other content owners have. i also saw that tube sites, torrent sites, and such were growing at an alarming rate. i had my general attorney refer me to a copyright lawyer who explained it to me. i went in thinking that it was theft plain and simple. found out it was way more complicated and in simple text the majority of what he has said jives up with what i was told.

curious if you also think the candyflip guy is also a fake nick? he also thinks what gideon says is correct. does he not have any others that also think he is correct around here? has anyone else paid for a consult with such an attorney to get information on copyright cases? some of you must have, i have to imagine most of you use lawyers for your business since we are in adult which can get prosecuted at anytime.

'backups' are allowed under the law as long as they are personal and private. this goes for vcr tapes, blank disks, clouds, torrents, dvr's, etc etc - but he ignores the text that defines the qualification personal and private.

regardless of your 'right to timeshift' and the media that you choose to 'timeshift' on - the qualification in the law is no 'public' broadcast or access. yet that is exactly what is happening thru the misuse of the technology

how someone backs up their own media is one thing and if i wanted to back up all of my porn via torrent which i would never do legally i can. i did buy it. i could also make it public too. just nobody legally would have any right to download it unless they also bought it.
i also do agree that the technology is primarly used for abuse and illegal sharing. not sure what he has said about that but it is what i feel and what i have seen. example i am pretty damn sure tens of thousands of people did not actually purchase the last version of photoshop the day it was released yet that many were sharing it. that is full on theft.
i am not sure about 100% of what he says as far as use etc. i just was speaking about how the actual copyright works along with such backups. i also feel there is indeed harm. that is why i went to a lawyer afterall. perhaps you may get some interested people via watermarks to visit your site, but otherwise it is harmfull.
oh correction. i have used a torrent in a test or two when i seeded it with some specially edited video that was more like a long comerical for my site. did not see enough type in increases to justify it so far. but then again it just takes me so long to edit such video and that is what really killed my idea of profitability.

i have repeatedly said that setting up a private tracker protects your content just as well as going streaming only. IT actually allows you to raise your price and get more sales, while being honest. Unlike streaming only where you have to lie to your customers/punish review sites if they expose your DRM.

the point is to shift the legal arguement to eliminate the DCMA "abuse" without taking away the fair use rights that safe harbor is designed to protect.



spend a couple of hundred buck, take one of the interpretations of mine to a real lawyer and ask them if that arguement is possible under the current laws.

i have never had a lawyer say it not possible. if it is possible you would have to bill out the hours to defeat that arguement. and the "thieves" as you say would be able to hide behind it.
