The name comes from the nickname of Mayor H. Roe Bartle so it is not a direct reference to Native Americans.
It is not a "Tomahawk Chop", it is the lifting of your arm (multiple times) towards heaven to thank God for the opportunity to destroy the rival team.
The "Ooohhhh whoa ohhh!" whatever chant is a tip of the hat to the Wizard of Oz which takes place in our neighboring state of Kansas of which our illustrious city takes it's name. If you recall as the Palace Guard march into the castle they do their chant.
Oh and you were probably going to say something about the stadium being called "Arrowhead" as being some kind of cultural appropriation and you would again be wrong, it is called Arrowhead simply because of the shape of the land at the intersection of Blue Ridge and Raytown Road that has traditionally been called the "Arrowhead of Kansas City".
So, nothing to see here.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
btw, in a different life I used to go over to Hofstra University and watch the Jets practice. Joe Namath could throw a pass from one end of the field to the other and make it look easy. Never got to go to a Jets game in person, just got to watch them on the practice field.
