    Chargeback abuse

Today it happened again. An old member after 5 months of rebills asked for chargebacks, so he got again the credit for all those months. It sucks because the guy clearly enjoy the content during all that time, and it sucks because a reseller will see a negative in his stats today. It also sucks because Zombaio charge me $12.50 for each chargeback.

What`s the limit of chargeback for those billing companies? If someone who have a membership for 2 years claimed chargebacks the company is gonna give them that?

    Shit. I am angry.

With most companies it is 2 months.

However, in the case of fraud, kid stole card, or some other special circumstance. They can give them up to 6 from what I have seen in my experience.

Luckily, I almost never see a charge back or refund. Maybe 1-2 a month of average? However, who and what, and time limit on charge back seems to vary based on processor, and reason given as well as point of contact. The processor for the pay site or the original bank for the credit card..

Agreed. Over 90% of fraud claims are bullshit though, such a shame. Sometimes it's from getting busted by a wife / gf, sometimes they are just lazy and claim fraud rather than call to see what the charge is for, and some of them are just complete bastards.

Possibly, if the customer claims fraud. With chargebacks, there's no limit in how far back one can go, when fraud is alleged.

There's still a timelimit, but here's the catch ... when it comes to fraud, the clock often starts from the fraud report date!

And also, in a rebill situation, a processor may justify taking back all rebills, even if they started years ago, if the most recent related rebill occurred within the past few months.

It's possible for one to contest such chargebacks, but takes much time and effort.

While I've read some horror stories on GFY regarding chargebacks, they pale in comparison to those I've read on the PayPal forums - sellers getting hit with chargebacks for the purchase of physical goods (non-recurring) transactions a year or more later!

Yes, 6 months seems to be too much for me. If you have been billed for 2 or 3 months and you never noticed something worng in your card, that means the guy is not takeing enough responsabilities, then why is me who have to pay for it? It`s crazy...

I want to know how many months ccbill can chargeback a buyer. I already sent an email, let see ehat they say..

Fighting chargebacks is one arena where dating sites have the upper hand. When someone processes a chargeback we usually not only have the email address and IP, but also photos, profile information, and email coorispondance which sometimes contains nuggets like phone numbers, etc. Even with all that there's no guarantee the banks will side with the merchant over the customer, but it sure helps.

Paypal is a bastard. I always urge everyone I know who ships physical goods to buy the delivery confirmation from the post office. It usually only runs a buck or two extra per peice and it's so worth it.

No limit? Shit! I can stand a whole year chargeback, but what is really annoying is to have to explain to the affialite why his account is now negative, all because as Shelly said "90% of fraud claims are bullshit".

What if fraud was involved? The true card holder might not get the billing statements.

Be interested in seeing what they say, but I wager whatever such time limits they state (which may not be hard limits anyways, if they use qualifiers, such as "may" or "usually", etc) doesn't include fraud alleged by the card holder; be sure to follow-up on that.

As I recall, BVF had a pretty effective Rx for dealing with chargebacks

It only works on the dumbest of the dumb however.
