For air travel I use the following:

Kayak.com
Some local/national airline carriers cost more, and others less, by booking direct.
Recently I booked using Kayak referral to Aeroflot website, a flight from MOW to LAX as it was cheaper than purchasing directly on Aeroflot.
The flight from a regional city to MOW was significantly cheaper with more available flight departure options when booking directly.
