Thank you for posting this. My dad who passed away a few years ago was in the 2nd world war and I was happy to see before he died that the doctor at the hospital when finding out he was a veteran made a few calls and got him into a beautiful hospice when he died with dignity with family around. I'm so proud of him and my grandfather who bore the scars of WW1 on his face.

Sadly if we ever faced that again we'd loose because you'd be hard pressed to find young people willing to die for their country.

Let you not forget that "Canadian's" stole all of the above from the native brown people.

I have often thought about this, being 1/16 Apache myself. The whole kill the Injuns thing really just comes down to technology. No written languages, no guns, no machinery of any kind...the Indians were basically one step above primitives. So primitives face a superior technological force. What was going to happen? What has happened throughout history.

When or where in human history has a superior technological and military force voluntarily lived side-by-side in peace with primitives? Even the Roman Empire, who tended to leave native peoples alone as long as they paid their tribute to Rome, still upgraded the civilizations and 'Romanized' them via roads, etc. What were the Colonists and early Americans supposed to do with the indian populations? Hmmm?

A video showing how the land claims of various areas changed over the last 2500 years is racist? What exactly is racist about it? Honestly to god, i'm curious, because I'm not seeing anything even remotely racist there at all. It shows how kingdoms rose and fell. The European one is of course more accurate because much of the African one isn't even covered due to lack of written language in those areas or records from those areas. There could have been entire civilizations there that were destroyed that had written language and have vanished without a trace. This happened in Europe too - there was a whole Slavic religion and culture from which much of the records were destroyed by the Christians.

I really don't see how that video is racist or even why you are making villains of the Europeans. Even the African slave trade by could not have been done without the help of Africans. Europeans were not catching Africans in nets. African tribes were capturing slaves from their rival tribes and trading them to the Europeans for goods, such as guns - which they proceeding to use to capture more slaves and gain an advantage. African tribes made slaves from their conquests for thousands of years before the first European landed on that continent. Had the white man never came to Africa, someone in Africa would have invented black powder sooner or later and they'd still have slavery.

Your Mi'kmaq ancestors also didn't spawn in North America out of thin air. Someone else had that land before them, and they conquered them. There are probably hundreds of Indian tribes that were lost to time, some undoubtedly butchered by them.

The white man is not inherently evil, despite what Netflix might tell you. Had the Mi'kmaq invented or acquired black powder, and large transatlantic ships before the Europeans, all of Europe would be speaking their language.

The Europeans conquered native americans because they had gunpowder. They traded these guns and gunpowder to the natives, who then proceeded to conquer the land of other tribes who were still using bows and arrows. Given enough time, one of these tribes would have invented guns too. Please do not blame everything bad in the world on the white man - every civilization other then maybe some desert dwelling nomads had the same opportunity to advance their technology.

Gunpowder was not beamed down to Europe by space aliens with instructions to kill Africans or Indians. It can be made from naturally occurring substances, to which every civilization since the dawn of time has had access to. Everyone had equal chance to invent everything. I think it was discovered in China and probably traded via the silk road. China was just lucky enough to have found it first.

At the end of the day, like it or not - Every single one of us is alive right now because our ancestors managed to slaughter and fuck their way to the top in their region.

@OneHungLo You're wrong on the 25 years - the lower average lifespan in ancient times was due to very high child mortality. If you managed to get past around 5 years old you lived around the same as now.
