I think it because more and more people are shying away from the 'traditional' website and turning to social media for their information needs, especially given that a lot of people have been sat at home over the past few years and are discovering just how social media can connect them with the information they want, much quicker than having to do a Google search for the same information they'll have directly in front of them on the social platforms.
We're also seeing the 'instant gratification' generation starting to grow and these folks have pretty much has social media in front of them since birth.
It won't be long until everyone is plugged in, plugged up and streamed data 24/7:
