    BestBuy.com Goofs and Lists a $1,800 Samsung HDTV for $9.99

    Due to a so-called ?error? on the BestBuy.com website, the online electronics store is selling Samsung 52-inch 1080p HDTV for only $9.99. The Samsung LN52A650 was available to everyone for this ridiculously low price of just $10 just a hour or two ago and although it usually costs a around $1,800, the incredible 1080p, 120hertz, 50,000:1 contrast ratio HDTV is only ten dollars. Obviously we are all asking our selves if this is real or not, but thats the price tag that was up, I didn?t even think about it and ordered five. Price came out to $127.15 including shipping and taxes. What do you all think about this situation? Will best buy honor this ?error? or will they just lose a lot of unhappy potential customers due to this obvious advertising scheme?

          This is completely idiotic. There are 'price mistakes' ALL of the time and orders get canceled. Do you really think they're going to honor this what-so-ever? Don't think so. And if some idiot is actually going to spend money on a lawyer for this, more power to ya but you might as well just go buy the TV and save yourself lawyer and court costs.

                      Actually the company thats willing to conduct the Class Action Lawsuit will be doing it on a "If you get paid, we get paid" basis, no money upfront.. There is no loss here...

                      Btw, I ordered 5 at about 3:45am US EST, they said that if the order is canceled, my credit card will not be charge, well... that was a lie, they charged me in full and when I call customer care, they are telling me I need to take it up with my credit card company.

Another possibility is there's some add-on item for LCD TVs that cost $9.99. Point is there are so many different ways to get an erroneous price that totally different with nothing in common with the actual list price.

It would be a very dumb one - not saying it couldn't happen, but if turned out to be true, the loss in goodwill would be substantial - they'd lose a lot of customers to tough competitors, including Wal-Mart and Amazon.

                                                                                                                                  And in regards to collecting interest. In what? ... short-term rates are practically zero!

                                                                                                                                  But more to the point, Best Buy will likely LOSE money in all of this. Processing all those orders costs money, in both personnel and processing fees - gateway fees, AVS matching, CVV verification, etc. And refunds will cost some money to process too, though the credit card merchant cost may be nominal, but, again, there's going to be labor involved - some refunds will need to be processed manually, dealing with customer complaints, etc.

                                                                                                                                  In regards to customers forcing sale of the LCD TVs for $9.99 ... such large pricing errors, with or without a disclaimer, are NOT enforceable.

                                                                                                                                  A judge will rule, assuming the case isn't tossed at the getgo, that forcing such a sale would be an unconscionable; unreasonable.

                                                                                                                                  IMHO, for a buyer to prevail against Best Buy they'd need to document that Best Buy had intentionally priced them for $9.99. Good luck with that :lol:

                                                                                                                                  There was a widely publicized snafu regarding a newspaper give away (I think it was in NYC) a few years back in which thousands of people thought they'd won the grand prize. Needless to say, the newspaper didn't pay out - people complained, sued, etc but got nowhere.
