The root of the problem doesn't lie in the warez sites. Those sites were around for forever and never hurt anything. The explosion in torrent and illegit tubes made everything nice and easy. And once it was discovered how to get through the "user uploaded" loophole it was a shitstorm. But the site you're talking about? It doesn't even register in this problem. Which is a GOOD thing.
It does. Dirty Dane cleared up my paragraph in a sentence. You will see group rips out in public more than ever compared to 5 years ago. Give me a "known" warez website whether is a torrent site / warez forum / newsgroup and the most popular will be a scene group rip.

Let's take for example Torrentleech.com (google it) is a PRIVATE tracker for torrents unlike TBP which is also a torrent tracker. The difference is huge. aXXo is not a scene group btw.

Let's take down a site shall we?

      http://www.pussytorrents.org

You will see many scene group rips for porn there on a daily basis and new released content. Everyone's content is there (ok "most"). The time that it will take people from here to take that down will be very slim.

EVERY individual source of free porn is not a killer in itself - the aggregate total is.

and really - how many computer support techs are there in the world? help desk people (tier 1/2/3)? sysadmins? programmers? computer savvy new generations? self educated geeks? ordinary corporate suits that really aren't stupid paper shufflers and have had computers in their lives for a decade+? computer sales? comuter electronics techs? and on and on and on....

the geek factor is truely where the root of file sharing lives

the damage caused by this sector is a lot larger than you are giving them credit for.
and they number in the millions

          .
I believe you, but if there are millions of them why is that site dead in the water relatively speaking. And why didn't it damage the business bad the last 10 years?

I admit my only experience with warez sites are with geek employees of mine over the years who would run servers full of freeware that they used for different scripts.

I really don't understand why a surfer would feel the need to go put a scene on a warez site when their main motivation seems to be getting the scene up on rapidshare first so they can brag about it on pornbb to all of their followers.

Again, I'm not real familiar with warez. But I am real familiar with traffic, surfers, sales, and the trends of this business and the fact that everything went to hell at exactly the same time as the rise of the torrents and illegit tubes, not the warez which have been around since the beginning.

If torrent sites, newsgroups etc. become "quality" and so organized, why not destroy that quality? Bombard them with shitty stuff through automatic software, so surfers stop using it. There must be some unemployed former spammers who are looking for some work. I also think every law enforcement could care less about spammers at illegal sharing sites

WAY bigger traffic numbers, much more surfer friendly, and a much bigger "community". The warez site is just too "geeky" for most folks and doesn't even register as far as damaging the business. Probably just the way the warez guys would like to keep it too.
The pornbb's and the planetsuzy's are definitely the bigger problem, but it goes way further than even just the immense traffic those sites get. Now if you look at pornbb every jackass that posts on that board also has their own blog with pirated Rapidshare porn links, since pornbb allows their users to put their blog url's in their sig, and some of them are pulling in some impressive traffic numbers. Then they monetize those blogs with dating, cams, Virtual Girl HD, and a bunch of other sites that take their traffic.

So like I said in another thread, the traffic pool is shifting so extremely that the guy we used to all call the "surfer" now probably has a blog with more traffic than most of the affiliates that post on here. It really is disturbing...

There is torrent sites that are public to everyone (bad) and those that are "private" not really private just someone that actually controls who uploads and can delete things at anytime mostly. You can spam the public torrent sites but you will get banned eventually.

Usenet or Newsgroups already get spam a LOT..(A LOT). However, there is groups out there dedicated to just giving you the NZB. file so you can directly get to the file you want and they have their own sites that organize those NZB. files in order.

You would be surprised how much the law enforcement are against spammers than pirates, because is easier to track those spammers down than pirates.

That's a fact. At one point I had 1.2 million UNIQUES a day of real traffic. Now? I THINK a couple of people may have accidentally surfed to one of my tgp's by mistake.

We can not sell what is free. And no, I don't want anybody to give me the "Cable TV" or "Bottled Water" analogies because it's not the same thing at all.

If you gave people all the channels of Cable TV with the same reception for free...nobody would pay for cable. And if you gave everyone in the country a free water purifier for their home, nobody would buy bottled water either. THAT is the situation the porn business faces.

I am not talking about spam as defined by laws and law enforcement, as "commercial" spam, but bad quality uploads, which is considered spam at the community (but still legal). It could be anything that do not harm or is illegal, but just annoying because of the amount of bad quality. The open communities are those getting most traffic and if you force heavy moderation, you slow it all down and scare away users. Eventually they will go underground, but if they are let in, so can spammers (bots).

Ah OK I know what you mean. Sorry but if I own a site and you keep spamming my site whether is illegal or in a gray area you can still be liable for damages, that could consist in admin time or attacking the server by handling your load of messages. That will be illegal for whoever tries to spam any network commercial or not.

Then again no "legit" company would get into an illegal activity to stop another illegal activity unless they know how to get away with and most do not that is why they come here and rant. I know that seems like a diss to those who complain but hey it is what it is.

I just went through all 3 links quickly to just see how the site operates then peeked at the content but couldn't stand to look anymore if I knew that was there.

If you intentionally attack a tracker server or torrent hoster, it would be illegal, yes. But if you upload things they "do not like", you are doing nothing else than using the server for what it was intented for; hosting torrents and connect to trackers. It is in the torrent clients, the surfers spend their traffic, and no admin or hoster can held you reliable for that. Otherwise they also have to admit THEY are responsible for the content. Are anyone going to charge you for sharing 1 gigabyte zip files of the tubegirl? No "legit" company is doing this officially, but I bet my ass some have "freelancers" doing it already

No only the claudia-marie.com site. Unfortunately every scene ever shot for Naughty America since back when they were SoCalCash is available for free everywhere. And the sales reflect that. They don't bother to try and protect anything.

The explosion in torrent and illegit tubes made everything nice and easy. And once it was discovered how to get through the "user uploaded" loophole it was a shitstorm. You're on track here Robbie.

Basically "the scene" is where piracy started in an organized form, and can be traced back to at least the early 1980's. People ran BBS's in their homes, that accepted calls from modems. Many were "PD" boards that only had public domain stuff, ie: legal. Many also had a backdoor into the more private areas, where they would have porn, and illegal software. Anyone remember cshow.exe? Also you'll see HPVAC, which was hacking, phreaking (telephone hacking), virii, art (ansi, ascii, ripterm) and cracking.

There were also entirely pirate BBS's, that needed a special password to create accounts, and their phone numbers were essentially private. You needed to have the NUP (new user password) so even if you had the phone number, that wasn't good enough to gain access. Many sysops of these sites would even phone you, to have a better idea of who had access to their server.

Earlier I posted one of the largest BBS's Toronto ever saw, called Akira. At one point that was the "fastest" board in the world, and people would call from all over the world to upload, download and post messages. Often people used blue boxes, beige boxes and the like, or stolen PBX's that allowed them to call for free, on someone else's dime.

When the internet emerged, first it was like FIDO messaging, gopher, and telnet. Telnet was widely used to transfer files between BBS's and the Internet, often using faster ISDN lines. Interestingly, people generally only used the internet to be able to transfer things faster between BBS's! It was all about the race to who could upload things the fastest, for respect, and for download credits. You couldn't download without contributing.

Eventually FTP's took over, and BBS's waned in popularity. Some of the biggest ones had as many as 20 ISDN lines + 20 dedicated phone lines at their peak.

"the scene" was a pretty private group of people who had set standards in ripping, packaging and releasing files. Spreading them to public places like the newsgroups and anonymous FTP's was highly frowned upon, and selling the stuff was the highest capital crime. It wasn't meant to be for everyone.

Eventually, it got out of control. It got too big. People stopped respecting the rules, the handful of groups became thousands, and generally people with less computer skills were involved. It was no longer the private super-nerds only club.

Some semblance of the scene's organization remains today, and lots of the older groups still operate. Razor1911 was mentioned. They're still alive, but way more private. There are hundreds of very private scene sites, and the website that peruvian posted gives you some idea of what comes out every day on these sites. Much of the trading is done by shell scripts, although nobody would admit that. The robots just sit on all the sites, and when something comes out a guy watches an IRC channel, hits a key, and his bots move it to all the relevant sites.

There are MP3 scene sites, warez sites, movie sites, porn sites, and mixes of all of those things together. Different sites have different rules, and accept different things. There are even weekly reports on who moved the most stuff, which sites are worth the most (as they're faster and harder to get anything uploaded to), and which groups are dominating. It's all very competitive.

Groups pre-release things to their own affiliated sites first, and then things spread from there. The group members have an advantage of knowing what's going to be released when, and the second something is released, they're ready to send it all the best sites they're on.

But you're totally right. That's not the problem. The people trading shit around don't even watch it, or use the software. It's just to get credits, and rack up points, etc. Some of the stuff gets posted to torrent sites, newsgroups, etc. But it's not the scene people doing it. It gets uploaded to some lame FTP site and then moved from there. More often than not, it's not even the scene releases getting spread around. It's just homemade rips made with no rules, no quality control, etc.

The real scene members wish the torrents, tubes and all that would go away just as much as we do. Kinda ironic I guess.

So anyways there you have it, that's the scene in a nutshell. It was around long before the internet, and has little to do with piracy as we know it today. It's not a situation like drugs where if you cut off the source, you seriously impact the availability of copyright materials available on the internet. Until individuals are being held responsible for what they upload, download, store and make available, things will continue as they have.

You didn't have to go back that much in time to make me feel that old now. That probably took time to write. I still however point to the scene when piracy comes in just nobody going to have one major distribution website for everything that would just be dumb and cause way too much attention regardless of who you are and who you know.

                                            I'm only 28, I guess that's old now.. Yikes. ;)

And for what it's worth, piracy has done a lot of good. It turned Microsoft into what it is today, and made the internet too. Without piracy, lots of the most talented people would not have been able to craft their skills as teenagers.

I was one of the first people writing porn reviews too, after Janes Guide of course.. But they do things differently. I would use stolen passwords to get into your sites, and write my reviews. Back then lots of sites were total shit. Nobody would have let me in had I asked. So I actually used piracy to CONTRIBUTE to your bottom line. Imagine that. ;) I thought it was great that I could funnel people to the better sites, and steer them away from the shitty ones.

I was like Santa Clause. Sure I was breaking and entering, but I left gifts goddamnit!!!

Software piracy and media piracy are two entirely different beasts.

Right on the beasts. Some may call me crazy but media piracy may help a porn site owner on the come-up to get noticed. Afterwards well that can get ugly.

For the same reason some sites still refuse to give out review passwords - their sites suck.

I think it has done more damage than good. For instance I remember mp3.com was a great place for amateurs to share their music through the P4P algoritm, but all of that changed when piracy and the greed came. When pirates today whine about "they" take away our freedoms, it is the pirates themselves who cause it. It's bad karma.

Yes for sure. It's still illegal, and copyright owners surely deserve more protection. It's doing a ton of damage right now. I'm with the copyright holders.

However to say it's been ALL bad is just plain wrong.

I guess it's like graffiti in that sense. It's illegal, and defaces people's property, it costs people money. There are victims. However some of it is truly amazing, and I guarantee I've stopped to look at graffiti for far longer than I would had those bricks stayed plain brown. It's added, while taking away.

And I have no idea how these idiots whine like they have a right to share anything they get their hands on. None of the original pirates would have said that. They knew what they were doing was wrong. Plus they were trading in a small community, not making available to the world. It had some philosophical advantages to speak about, but they all knew it was illegal and they were risking their freedom. People went to jail.

No different than porn tube scenes sliced. Slicing a movie into scenes and uploading it is piracy, right? Everyday on GFY people link illegally sliced movies, no better than a porn warez forum LOLz

So if you watch the sharing forums with a software (by flagging certain keywords), you can react upon it and get the files removed. Eventually they also shut down their accounts, and take away the motivation for uploading. It is small measures, but if everyone keeps their eyes open, it has some effect.

I guess some few people do watch a hole movie from youtube in slices, but it must suck to be them. However, I do think people care less about the cinema experience, if it is porn....

Why is simple. We refuse to change our product and Tubes suits them better. Forget about the free angle, people will pay if you have the right product.
