OK, I'll bite. Are you a fat ass or do you have a bunch of children?
Way to even take the affording good food comment seriously. If you do it right, you can get great deals on very healthy food. Therefore, price is kind of irrelevant for most people.
Heh no, I exercise about 4 hours a day 6 days a week. Requires a huge amount of caloric intake.
- If all food was farmed organically, the Earth could support in the best case around 4 Billion people. The current earth population is nearing 7 Billion people. Which 3 Billion should we let starve to death? Maybe the hippy organic fucks.
- Most organic food found in super markets comes from corporate giants, not local farmers. Somewhere around 20% of organic food being sold in the USA is imported from China. There's no requirement to mark origin of the food. If you really want to support local farmers, go to a farmers market shithead.
- In blind taste testing organic foods have never demostarted measurably better taste. Some studies actually show quite the opposite. It tastes better in your mind because you're fucking retarded.
- No evidence of any sort exists to suggest organic food is more nutrious than non-organic foods. Scientifically, it's not an issue at all. It's just plain and simple bullshit.
- No crops are grown pesticide free. All organic farmers use pesticides. The difference is instead of using the latest and greatest pesticides designed specifically to be less toxic, organic farmers use harsher "natural" pesticides in huge ammounts. Your exposure to pesticides is significantly higher with organic foods.
You're paying more money, for no increased value and still making corporations rich. Good job, Assholes.
I'm happy that we keep killing africans by suppressing the development of GM crops that can thrive in all conditions. We need to keep that going. I'd like to see us as a global community continue to wipe out millions based on myth and hype. I've sent Africa three cards already. Usually they just say "we kill you... because we care, let us know if you need anything else"
I will pay about $6 a gallon for organic milk because it has a longer shelf life and I don't care for the use of rBST hormone. That's about it, occasionally the organic bananas are cheaper.
History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.

Yeah, bad news on the hormone front. All cows have a natural protein hormone (bST) that helps them produce milk. Some dairy farmers choose to supplement their cows' bST to boost milk production, helping to ensure a plentiful milk supply.
That's right kids, organic milk also has hormones in it. Oh the horror.
what makes it last so long? i drink lactaid milk because regular milk makes me sick, and the shit lasts about 3x as long, ive always wondered why.
It's not that fact that it's organic that makes it last longer, it's how it's preserved. Read below.
If you?ve ever shopped for milk, you?ve no doubt noticed what our questioner has: While regular milk expires within about a week or sooner, organic milk lasts much longer?as long as a month.
So what is it about organic milk that makes it stay fresh so long?
Actually, it turns out that it has nothing to do with the milk being organic. All "organic" means is that the farm the milk comes from does not use antibiotics to fight infections in cows or hormones to stimulate more milk production.
Organic milk lasts longer because producers use a different process to preserve it. According to the Northeast Organic Dairy Producers Alliance, the milk needs to stay fresh longer because organic products often have to travel farther to reach store shelves since it is not produced throughout the country.
The process that gives the milk a longer shelf life is called ultrahigh temperature (UHT) processing or treatment, in which milk is heated to 280 degrees Fahrenheit (138 degrees Celsius) for two to four seconds, killing any bacteria in it.
Compare that to pasteurization, the standard preservation process. There are two types of pasteurization: "low temperature, long time," in which milk is heated to 145 degrees F (63 degrees C) for at least 30 minutes*, or the more common "high temperature, short time," in which milk is heated to roughly 160 degrees F (71 degrees C) for at least 15 seconds.

"Organic" is faith.. just like any belief.
People aren't usually buying a product as much as they are buying an image, an idea and a feeling.
Doesn't rBST also cause problems with the milk? Like increase the amount of pus? Also isn't it banned in Europe because it increases the levels of another hormone that causes cancer?
History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.
Since November 1993, with FDA approval, Monsanto Company has been selling recombinant bovine somatotropin (rbST), also called rBGH, to dairy farmers. Cows produce bovine growth hormone naturally, but many producers administer additional rBGH because it increases milk production. Bovine growth horome also stimulates liver production of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1). If rbST-treated cows produced milk with higher levels of IGF1 this would be of medical concern, because IGF1 stimulates cancer growth in humans.
To read further into my own argument it seems IGF-I is not an issue (in the USA)
Because IGF-I is a normal component of milk, salvia and blood; is digest when consumed orally; is not present in sufficient quantities in milk to alter human blood concentrations; cannot transform a normal cell into a malignant cell; and is not increased above average values for human and cow's milk in milk from cows given additional BST, there is no evidence of increased risk of breast cancer in children or adults consuming milk from BST-supplemented cows. -- Robert Collier, PH.D. Monsanto Agricultural Company
This isn't going to convince me to stop buying organic milk though. It seems all of the "studies" on IGF-I are done by the company that produces rbST (Monsanto), which turns a massive profit from selling it to farmers.

I'm by no means a scientist and I'm not very well informed about the IGF-I and rbST issues. I do know however that there are two sides to the argument and both sides have experts on them. That is to say, I don't have the knowledge to fully support either side of the argument. Or, in other words, I just don't know.
I do know that many people make the argument that increased hormones in milk are leading to young women entering puberty faster. However, that is happening on a global scale including Europe and Canada where rbST is not used. That, in my mind, sort of throws some doubt on the theory.

they covered that on the episode of bullshit, basically the only reason girls are entering puberty earlier is because people a just more fat in general now a days.

Oh yeah that's right. The body doesn't enter puberty until it's stored up enough body fat .. So yeah that makes sense. I forgot that part of the show.
