        The Holy Bible in which americans live by was created to cause fear and ultimately control. Keeping the masses in line as insects.

        Brainwashing you to believe that you are judged and condemned for almost everything you do. Also Condemning you for seeking truth and knowledge as well, so yes "they" as those in power want to dumb you down.

                        Regardless of what they base their beliefs on what gives them the right to force their opinions on others?
