They're the best we've got available. I'm on their list for their testing roll out of the new 50/5 speeds they'll have to offer in the next few years. We get hooked up around October.

But where does it stop, you can only be as fast as you can be served. You can have 1GB up/down but when the other side cant serve you at that speed you cant use it

Our HOA is Openband.net they have a few gig circuits for our development and one next door using Level3 and cogent.

I had some issues with the TV and they came out and said that something had chewed it's way partially through the line and we weren't getting the "full stream". They took care of that and I got better internet speed right off the bat.

Is the fiber from your outside box coming into the house via Coax...

with Fios they run it too the outside box - underground fiber, then I had a choice to bring it inside via coax or cat5, I chose cat of course - and this way you can use your own router...

I recently had 20/2mbps with Charter which was the fastest speed available. I just downgraded to 10/1mbps and I haven't noticed a difference in any of my day to day browsing. It was rare to see those speeds.

the fiber comes from a switch thats out in this block somewhere it comes under ground and into the basement where it gets converted to ethernet.

This setup comes in gets converted to ethernet and then plugs into a cisco ASA5505 which then has a connection to my switch in my house which distributes the whole house.
