Has there ever been so much heat coming right at the new president?

Like I'm sure we're living in unprecedented times, but many people seem to forget that, since they still feel that change of a system, that was preached for years to be the best, but that simply doesn't deliver, as something truly devilish.

As in marketing or propaganda, it's probably not what you have to offer but what you make people believe you have to offer.

And that might be the problem, because times are tough and the cabinet all of a sudden, although very professional in their PR doesn't have much possibilities for any shortcuts or fast wins and the most painful thing in politics - systemic change is knocking on the door.

What for a solution would Republicans offer these days? Nothing?

They depend on investors so they can carry on their medical and drug research. Unfortunately, being investors they expect a return on their investment, and under the current administration they don't know who is going to be the owners of any discoveries they may find.

Since there is no ROI, they have pretty much discontinued their investing. From what I have been told, drug research in the US has pretty much come to a standstill while they wait to see what Obama does next.
No offense to you BD, but fuck your friends research facility. I'm glad their investors feel there is no ROI in investing in their research. Pharmaceuticals is a highly lucrative industry that capitalizes on the ignorance of the masses by evangelizing their products, and convincing everyone they can that EVERYONE needs to be taking SOME SORT of pill.

It's a sad shame that people are so stupid that they fall for this shit. I'm not suggesting there is zero need for medical research, but I would be elated to see all these commercials for a pill to treat having a hiccup or getting some gas once a while, go away - right along with the careers of the assholes that profit from this shit.

Just to be clear, this is not a post about my stance on socialized medicine or "Obamacare", this is about my hatred for the insidious minds behind big pharma.

Well you said before that the only reason Obama got as far as he did was because he was black. (and this was before he even wrapped up the nomination)

Only a racist could truly believe something like that. The reason you get your nose so bent out of shape when anyone mentions the racist undertones in your posts is because you know it's true.

If someone called me a Jew or a Faggot it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all, because I don't wear a yarmulke or suck cock. Yet you always get riled up when anyone calls you a racist.
                                    I wonder why that is???

BTW, John Edwards, the guy you supposedly wanted to be President, had almost exactly the same health care ideas that Obama does, so your friend would still have lost their job.

                                    Idiot.

Although I think the price for health care is to high in the country and all the insurance and pharmaceutical company's have there hands in the doctors pockets, universal heath care is not the answer esp being provided by the government. I do not buy in that the government will have complete control over health care however, the federal government has to much control as it is and I think the more control they have the less power the people have, and there is where the problem lays. There are so many people that are cheap and refuse to pay for the best health care the world has ever seen they want it handed to them on a silver platter at the expense of others.

I do not buy in that the government will have complete control over health care however, the federal government has to much control as it is and I think the more control they have the less power the people have, and there is where the problem lays. There are so many people that are cheap and refuse to pay for the best health care the world has ever seen they want it handed to them on a silver platter at the expense of others.
so instead you want a company in control of it? you think because you have insurance you and your doctor can do whatever you want? There are more people that cant afford health care or they are a victim of the small print of their policy. it has nothing to do with cheap. this year over million americans will go bankrupt over health care bills. During the governemts summer break over 100,000 people will lose their health coverage.

This is where the disconnect is between reality and rhetoric IMO.

People are the government. The government is the people. When the government has control of something, in a democracy, that can only mean that the people have control of it.

Somehow the republicans have managed to convince everyone that for profit corporations operating in the interest of profit are good and a government entity operating in the interest of it's constituents is somehow evil or fascist.

I have influence over my congressman (in a manner of speaking), I have zero say over what Aetna does.

I don't know the answer. However I'm not against having some regulation of the health care industry. After all, we pretty much deregulated the financial industry and, left to their own devices, they nearly drove the world into a depression, because of their endless search for ROI.

Did you benefit from the deregulation like they promised you would? Did it improve your standard of living? Look at where this country is now.

A government option is a good idea for the nation, and it's one way to insure that there is a force that is in competition with the insurance and pharmaceutical industry as it exists today.

The purely free market system is a great idea, and as has been mentioned here earlier, we have the best health care money can buy. Well, ask yourself, how much longer will you be able to buy the healthcare that you take for granted now. Believe me, as investors beef up their desire for ROI, more and more people are being squeezed out, and experiencing the type of care that you are saying that government healthcare would cause anyway.

This thread does raise some good points though.

Baddog's friends represent an honest concern voiced by many when considering a government health plan or a socialized plan. There is the worry of incentive in the system, and how to go about insuring that bright minds are encouraged to work in the system and are rewarded appropriately for their input.

I believe we may take comfort in the fact that this president mixes well with all types of experts and professionals in many fields who offer input and ideas about projects he wants to work on. I think people actually like him and would like work with him to create a successful health care system.

These experts will not ignore the thoughts that you and others are raising here and all around the country as they work on this plan. I think that these enlightened, modernly thinking, minds will work to see that these things are dealt with as much as possible.
