Doing that puts me back to using direct links and fake posts.
why fake posts?
you have XXX niche sub and XXX niche site. nothing wrong with it
drive traffic to site posts and make money with pop banner and or cpa offers.
one of my sites making $170+ daily with this.
Edit: my sub has XXXXXX members. i don't know if this will work for subs with less members.
How many members does your subreddit have? If it's a low number, maybe you should focus strictly on creating quality content to grow your community before trying to monetize it.

400k members and I have zero intentions of
doing anything with the sub except to find a
way to monetize it.

how many visitors arrive on average? as far as i see the sunreddit is not too big, reddit is not very efficient.

a 400k subreddit and you're having a hard time monetizing it? Something doesn't add up.
Either you're:
1 - posting irrelevant content to the sub
2 - your content sucks
3 - you're sending directly to a paysite
4 - your subscribers are fake
5 - all of the above
Find subreddits with big userbases already and ask the mods if you can post sometimes with a link to your site. Even if you get permission, be sure not to make it too spammy and also engage with the users (not necessarily just in your posts, but in the subreddit in general). If they think your goal is just to do fly-by link posting to make money, they'll just downvote everything you contribute.

I mod a niche sub with 200K subs and have a blog in the same niche. I monetize the blog with affiliate marketing (PPS/revshare sites in the same niche) and no CPA or popup ads.
Most of the content submitted to the sub is OC so I don't post too many links to my blog - maybe 1 a week and I pin it which brings in an average of 500 uniques.
Any tips on how to bring in more uniques so that CPA or popup would be worth the effort?

We own the official Brazzers subreddit, which just got over 100k.
The team here is not THAT experienced with how to have benefited from reddit though..
If there's anyone who has the Superb Skills and willing to do a (paid) consultation: contact me
PS: we don't like the idea of having anyone run our subreddits. We need the know-how , not a person/company to manage them.

Reddit Traffic is the shitiest traffic that ever have happened to internet.
It dsnt convert at all.
I can't tell you my tips but try to sent the traffic of your sub that want (will do) the offer you have on your site.
there is a lot of black hat on reddit...

It used to be poor for us, but now we mainly promote our blog there and are seeing great results. If you're pushing quick to digest audio/visual content, the conversions will probably suck, but longer form pieces with eye candy work well.
