Graphics cards shortage going on. Got one? Put it on eBay!

So I needed to make some room on my shelves for new toys and I put several graphics cards I thought were trash on eBay.

Apparently there is a graphics card shortage going on right now because of miners buying them up for alt coins mining.

A card I bought for $150 several years ago, and I thought I'd be lucky to get $50 for now is bidding for $275 at the end of day one.

A card I bought for $289 a year ago is bidding at $425 on day one of a seven day auction. Latest closing auctions see this card at $750-$1200 as it is decently new and moderately powerful.

A card I figured was total shit and I bought for perhaps $125 many years ago is bidding at $75 on day one because people just want to buy cards I guess. I figured it would sell for $15 and I'd just get it out of my collection of computer hardware.

Got video cards collecting dust? Ebay!

Rant - Ebay is cancelling PayPal as a method to get paid. So now you have to put in your bank account to sell there. I much preferred it all to be PayPal only. Oh well.

I wouldn't bother with cards like that at this point. Halfanings are happening more frequently. You need so much more hash-rate to earn.

To make it work you need multiple NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080's or something similar. They cost 600 or more and are out of stock since Bitcoin flew. You can buy them on ebay for $1800 or more but it's a risk of you'll make your money back on it or not. You need like 5 ore more of them and even then you'd need to be in a mining pool to make anything.

It's not a great time to try and get into mining unless you don't mind playing around with the little risky coins. You could get lucky but it's like a lottery. You've missed the boat on mining, it's been difficult to mine since the first time Bitcoin broke $5000.00. So much processing power has been pushed in that the hash-rates have shot up.

Invest that money into day trading crypto and you'll make a better return on your money for sure at this point.

Can't mine BTC with graphics chips, must be Eth.
