It's rather interesting that the mods aren't getting involved even though the scammer himself admitted to attempted extortion and justified it by saying that the buying party isn't a "nice person". Even if he was "joking" about extorting him, it resulted in a scam.
Facts are as follows:
-Buyer paid.
-Buyer and/or the buyer's employees assumed good faith and didn't see a reason to doubt the seller or his intentions, and therefore haven't changed the password. It's quite common for the details to remain the same for quite a while, because you assume that the seller won't attempt anything childish, or even worse.
I think that it's obvious what needs to be done here. No amount of either one of us disliking someone's personality or their views on the world (immigration, etc) can justify extorting them or scamming them.
If the user can't return the subreddit to the buyer, then he should issue a full refund, and a public apology. Anything short of that isn't something that either of us should stand by.
He attempted to extort, and eventually scammed the user. That calls for least of all a permanent banishment from GFY.EuroRevenue €42 PPS or 70% Revshare | HentaiCentro $35 PPS or up to 70% Revshare!

To the seller - Even if the guy wasn't treating you nicely, once the deal was done you weren't in the right to even attempt to login to it again, let alone change the password (just because he failed to) and then start 'joking' for more money... that is a pathetic way of doing business honestly.
Perhaps had you never fucked with him and changed the password, maybe he wouldn't have fucked with admin/settings etc and lost access... seems like he did that in reaction to your move, since it only happened after you 'joked' around... it was still his actions though, and still his mistake. He does bear responsibility for that. If that's indeed how the account was lost.
You shouldn't have messed with him & changed the password in the first place, and he shouldn't have mistakenly lost access from the actions he took...if that's how it went down.

The New Moderator of the sub here. I'll share my perspective of what went down. I was not a party nor a benefactor to this transaction. Ill tell you what I told the buyer after he came complaining to me.

When a subreddit gets abandoned, so if a moderator does nothing, someone else can claim it. Which is how the dude (seller) originally got this page.
I also tried to get it, but when he got it I sent him a reddit mail asking to me a mod to get all of the garbage posts out of here that people have left here. He accepted and put me on the subreddit. a couple days later you (buyer) got added, I didn't know why, but it was his page at that moment so it was his decision.
The person in 1st got banned, and then he (seller's account) left. I got a reddit message from a user 1 day later saying that I was the highest mod and if he could advertise his discord here. Thats when I found out that he genvrs (seller) left.
Thats when I brought some of my own trusted friends in.
Like I said, I am not a party to whatever arrangement you (buyer) made. I am just a moderator here that helps the communities that let me.Comment
