Starting a porn vid co...What resources are out there?

I just want to clarify a few things:

we are able to get our vids manufactured
we are able to sell them via the internet

What we are really looking for is a list of adult video distributers. So that our vids could wind up in stores etc.

I've wondered how online DVD stores keep track of where it's illegal to send stuff out to in the US. Do they just hope they don't get dragged into court by a small county in hicksville that doesn't have anyone better to prosecute?

Matt 26z: It all depends if what you are sending can be found by a jury to be "Obsene" as per "local community standards". There are lists circulating out there, but the best advice (from lawyers) is to stayaway from the sick stuff; i.e. beastiality, bukkakke, rape, child stuff. I am sure that also applies to the internet content part of the game also.

I am in the same boat you are. Here's what I've found out so far...
1) The big players in the industry are very difficult to sell to and generally don't pay worth a crap for product.
2) We are seriously considering self-distribution. And one of the best places to start is buyer's organizations. Go to www.vsda.org (that's the Video Software Dealers Association website. You can obtain a giant list of stores and buyers orgs. Also checkout www.adultretailer.com.
3) Call International Video Distributors (1-800-999-2483) ask to speak to Ruth (that's their buyer). Supply them with 500 copies of your video and they will sell them on consignment.

Also, I've had some luck with New Frontier Media insofar as to getting through to their acquistions exec and talking with them about their requirements, contract terms, etc.
